Have you ever heard of Shirime? Shirime is a yokai from Japanese folklore,
a faceless human whose only bright eye is in his behind. He would show this eye by opening his
buttocks. According to Japanese rural stories, the Shirime liked to approach travelers unexpectedly
on dark, deserted roads, startling them by shouting their names. When travelers turned
to see who was calling them, the Shirime would open his buttocks to show his giant eye.
Although it may seem like a harmless joke, some versions of the legend suggest that the Shirime
was malevolent, attacking those unwary enough to approach it. Despite his strange appearance,
the Shirime was not necessarily evil, as he found joy simply in surprising travelers with his large
eye.
