Hey, I’m Tika! In 2024, I quit my corporate job to build a life on my own terms. Since then, I’ve moved around, started making money online, and shared the journey along the way. ✈️👩🏻💻🎦 On this channel, I talk about building creator businesses and a profitable personal brand so that you can achieve financial freedom doing work you love. 💸❤️
I'm going to share three of the highest income skills that you need
if you really want to make the most amount of money
and to get ahead in these next few years, because in today's digital economy,
the people who will win big are not the ones with fancy degrees
or with typical skills that we were told were important, like communication
or Microsoft Excel or organization.
They're going to be the ones who master these high income skills
that I'm about to share.
The first skill is knowing how to build your own personal brand.
Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock
will know that the creator economy is exploding right now,
and it's only going to get bigger in 2023.
It was valued at 250 billion US dollars, and by 2027,
it's predicted to double to nearly half a trillion dollars.
That kind of insane growth can only really mean one thing.
The people that learn how to ride this wave are going to be the ones who win big.
And the number one way to do that is to build a personal brand
because having an online presence makes you a magnet for opportunities,
whether you have your own online business and you want to attract
the right customers, or if you want to expand your influence
as a thought leader in your industry, or even if you are a corporate employee
and you're looking for a job
and you want to stand out amongst the sea of other candidates on LinkedIn,
it pays to have a personal brand.
But here's a little truth bomb for you.
The real money today isn't in traditional jobs as we know it,
but rather jobs that were created as a result of this booming creator economy.
Because today, the most valuable resource isn't gold.
It's not oil.
It's attention because attention can be monetized.
That's why you see so many creators out there building seven and eight figure
businesses off the back of their content.
Take Mr. Beast, for example.
He started off with just making videos of him doing little challenges
and gaming videos, and eventually he built this entire business empire
worth multi millions.
And he has his own chocolate bar and burger brand.
And if you look at Ali Abdaal, you know, he used to be a medical student
making videos on study tips and productivity hacks.
And eventually he also turned that into a multimillion dollar business
selling memberships, online courses.
And he even wrote his own book, Feel Good Productivity,
all powered by the brand that he built as a creator.
And it's the same path that I took in order to quit my corporate
banking job last year to build a life of freedom, doing work that I actually love.
You see, in banking, my income was capped at whatever my boss
thought my value was worth.
But with building your own online business and having a personal brand,
that income is uncapped.
And since I started my own business through my channel,
I've made triple what I used to make in my corporate job.
And so it really pays to have that personal brand and personal brand
to an online business is like gasoline to a fire.
When you're showing your expertise, your personal stories, your values
and showing up authentically online, this builds trust.
And trust is ultimately what makes people want to buy.
And having a personal brand is essentially building trust at scale.
When your audience feels like they know you and they really connect
with your values, your mission, your stories that you share,
your wins and your losses, then that is your unfair advantage.
That is how you're going to differentiate yourself
amongst the sea of other people doing similar things to you.
Because let's be real, there are millions of fitness influencers
out there or nutritionists or business coaches and social media coaches.
All these people doing the exact same thing.
Your personal brand is what's going to set you apart.
Now, building a personal brand isn't easy, but it's 100 percent
going to be worthwhile.
And to me, honestly, starting my own brand has given me the biggest ROI
amongst all the other things that I've ever done.
And the reason why it's difficult is because it's this delicate balance
of showcasing your expertise and your credibility
whilst being authentic and vulnerable, sharing your losses, not just wins
and having a content strategy that balances quantity and quality.
Because, yes, you want viral content, like the more eyeballs on your page,
the better, because then you can convert more people into paying customers.
However, we do need to optimize for quality as well.
We want to make sure that we're attracting the right eyeballs
and the right people, not just casual viewers who will never buy from you
and basically chasing empty views.
The second high income skill is sales.
If you master this one skill, I promise you, you will never be broke ever again.
No matter what industry or job you're in, knowing how to sell pays.
We're always selling something.
You want that new job?
You've got to sell yourself to the recruiter.
You want to get the promotion, then you need to sell to your boss
why you're the best candidate for it.
And if you have an online business, sales is everything.
You're always selling your products or your services.
And in the creator business world, sales is your lifeline.
Because let's be honest, if your business isn't making any money,
then it's just a hobby.
Every successful entrepreneur will tell you the exact same thing.
The number one skill that you need to master,
especially at the beginning of your entrepreneurial journey, is sales.
Here's how sales completely changed my life.
Last year, after I quit my banking job in Malaysia,
I actually moved to Australia under a working holiday visa.
And TLDR, basically, it allowed me to work part time.
And so what that meant was I only needed to work like two or three days a week.
And that gave me enough for living expenses whilst buying back
more of my time so I could work on building the business and building my channel.
And one of the jobs that I got was as a sales rep at a gym.
I wanted that job on purpose because I knew that if I wanted to succeed
as an entrepreneur, I needed to really master the skill of sales.
And also the other reason is because my heroes, the harmoses,
I know that they started their journey selling gym memberships
and it turned out pretty well for them.
And so I thought maybe it might turn out well for me, too.
So for months, I just went all in, completely immersing myself in sales.
I was doing the sales job at the gym, and I was also like always listening
to business podcasts on how to sell, reading all the books that I could find
and just like really sharpening my skills.
And the payoff was honestly insane.
Within just a couple months of me starting my own online business,
which was a creator coaching business, I went from zero to earning $3,000 a month,
which was way more than what I was earning in my old corporate job in Malaysia.
And back when I made my very first sale through that online business,
it completely rewired my brain forever
because it was proof that I no longer needed to rely on a paycheck
and I didn't have to wait for someone else to pay me my worth
and that I can make money doing work that I love.
So that's why I say if you learn this one skill, trust me,
you'll never be broke ever again.
The third high income skill should come as no surprise.
It's learning how to leverage AI.
AI is already transforming the way that we work.
And those who don't learn how to properly utilize it will get left behind.
This is especially true in business because having AI
is like having this super assistant
who works 24-7 and never gets tired and lets you move 10 times faster.
For creators and entrepreneurs, that means things like generating content
ideas on demand, drafting video scripts, captions or even email newsletters
in a fraction of the time, repurposing content across multiple platforms
without starting from scratch and streamlining boring admin tasks
like editing scripts, scheduling or data entry.
All of this frees you up to focus on higher leverage activities,
stuff that's really going to move the needle, critical things
for your business that only you can do, such as creating, selling
and connecting with your audience.
But here's the key.
AI shouldn't replace you.
It should amplify you.
And the creator entrepreneurs who will thrive in this next wave
are going to be the ones who know how to combine their personal brand
with the efficiency of AI, because the truth is, AI can write words,
but it can't replicate your voice or your story or your perspective.
That's the part that makes you memorable and actually builds trust
with your audience.
So hopefully that helps you guys out there,
especially if you guys are in the creator entrepreneur space.
