So I like doing these videos getting you guys up to speed of where my shop is at these days. And yes I am biased, I think my shop is the coolest, haha. Lets take a walk around and see what we got going here.
Join us for a colorful tour of my 20 year old classic VW shop, showcasing some incredible air cooled vehicles! Witness the passion of vw bug restoration, and see how these vintage VW vehicles get a new lease on life. We will explore each classic car and its restoration process.
So, here we are, guys. Classic VW Bugs.
It's the weekend. It's the week after
the my fall foliage cruise. We had a
great cruise. We had about I don't know
27 30 cars. Perfect amount of cars. Any
more than that, it always seems like it
gets a little hairy. But I just got to
say, being back up here in New York and
looking at my shop, uh it is a very
colorful shop. And uh I thought I'd walk
around and talk to you guys about what
we got here. Um, you know, here's my 65
G. I took this on the cruise. This was
my I was the lead. There's my 67 project
I got out of West Virginia or waiting to
get on. And, uh, here's a couple cars
that are familiar. Uh, we worked on this
car last year. This is a 65 or 66, I'm
sorry, Bahama Blue from a great guy
named Mike. And, uh, we got to fix his
sunroof here. And he's got a couple
other things. His cables are binding up.
So, we're going to get on that. And
then, uh, here's a green 67. I don't
know if you guys remember this car. I
restored this car almost 10 years ago.
And beautiful car. It came back to me.
And
what happened? So, I sold it to a fella
in Texas.
And then that guy in Texas sold it to a
guy in Maine. And then that guy in Maine
put it up on a classic car auction in
Maine. And one of my clients that signed
up for my find a bug program found it
going up on auction along with other
people that have also called me on this.
And uh my client won the won the bidding
and so the car came back here. He wanted
a couple subtle changes but man after 10
years the car still looks awesome. So if
we go in here,
this was one of my signature interior
kits. Awesome interior kit here and just
looks freaking awesome. So,
take a look. Even the paint still looks
awesome after 10 years.
What a beauty. I miss this car. We This
car, the year I finished it, I got into
three concourses that year. The
Greenwich Concore, the Hemings Concore,
and the Limerock Concore, the Elegances.
And uh I've never had a beetle go to
three concourses in one year. So, look
how stellar that thing looks. So now
this is going to Virginia. Nice guy that
I met through my find a bug program and
I know I'll be keeping tabs with him as
uh he now owns this vehicle.
So let's walk over here.
We got 77 copper up there. We just
finished that for a client convertible.
Ira, what are you doing? My man Ira
behind you.
>> And then here's my 64 convertible. My
64. I'm doing it for a client. This is a
car that's uh going to Eugene, Oregon.
The family bought this car brand new
in64.
Uh the son called me and his father
passed away from cancer and it was a sad
story and I just told my dad, "We got to
do this car." He wanted the legacy to
live on and bring this car back to the
way it was when it came out of the
factory. So, here it is. The Bahama
Blue. Two-tone wheels. Looks really
nice. It's got the right running boards,
the beading convertible top here, and uh
64,
if you don't know, has a one-year only
cord pattern.
And uh came out pretty good, I got to
say. Expensive, but came out pretty
good. So, we did get the uh everything
sewn up with so out of Colorado.
So, I sent her the material and they
they whipped it up for me. So, it's
looking awesome. So, we're starting to
put the mileage on it. I like to put 3
to 500 miles in on our restorations to
break them in and make sure everything's
functioning as it should. Here's a 64, a
great friend of mine that we're working
on. She's a great client. Find a bug.
Got this car out of Florida, brought it
up here. There's a 55 that just came in,
also on our fall cruise. Guy came down
from Massachusetts and we're going to be
working on this car. He wants his engine
uh dropped and rebuilt and resealed and
inspected. So this thing could live on.
All original interior in that. Of
course, it's got that red interior.
Beautiful color, the Strato Silver. Love
Strato Silver. It's one of Volkswagen's
best colors. So, uh, that's a really
sweet car.
And then this Green 67 sunroof. Great
friend of mine, Greg and Leela. You guys
have an awesome car, award-winning car
here in the Java green. They loved the
interior that I did on this 67 10 years
ago.
So, they decided we're going to do that.
So, they also put
a kit that I did into their car. And
very, very cool guy. So, if you want to
know, this is from SoFine again, and
it's the light beige with the beige
tweed cloth in the center, the 12-in
insert, brown piping, and then we put
the beige tweed headliner in there, and
it works very well with the sunroof. So,
uh, you have no problems with the
sunroof going back and forth with the
tweed cloth. Beautiful car. He also
wants some engine work done. So, we're
going to drop the engine on this, take a
look at everything, and make sure
everything is tip top, so it lasts
forever. How about that? And uh just a
beautiful car, great friends, and that's
what's nice about this being in this
business. I've met some of the best
people in the world. It's like family
and uh some of the nicest people I can
say I've met. And we had a great fall
cruise. And to have these little cars
here, my wife calls them Skittles
because of all the colors.
So, but uh it's been a joy being here
and uh building this business and uh
sometimes I I shake my head and I say,
"Man, how the how did I do it?" But, uh
it's it's great to come here on a Monday
morning and you look forward to your
Mondays. How how cool is that? So, I
just wanted to walk around and show you
guys uh what we got going on. And uh
we're busy. That's all I can tell you.
So, you guys got any questions, you got
any comments, leave them in the comments
section below. Love to hear your
thoughts. And uh that's it. If anybody's
looking for a bug, uh, hit me up for the
find a bug program. I search cross
country for these cars, even
internationally. So, if you want a
specialty car, uh, we can look. We got a
great social following, so I can reach
out to my my V-Dub groups out there and
see what's out there across the world
and get a car for you. Uh, or if you
want something built like this, give me
a shout. So, all right, guys. Take care.
