NASA'S Planetary DEFENSE Network Is ACTIVATED to Monitor 3I/ATLAS
NASA's Planetary Defense Network has been activated for the first time in history to monitor an interstellar object. The International Asteroid Warning Network (IAWN) - a UN-endorsed global collaboration - has launched an unprecedented campaign targeting 3I/ATLAS, marking the first time planetary defense protocols have been used for a visitor from outside our solar system.
According to Harvard's Professor Avi Loeb, this object displays 8 anomalous characteristics that collectively have a probability of less than 1 in 10 quadrillion of occurring naturally. The timing is critical: 3I/ATLAS reached perihelion on October 29th - the optimal moment for any technological maneuvers - and will make its closest approach to Earth on December 19th, just before Christmas.
Why would NASA activate planetary defense protocols for an object that poses no collision threat? The answer may fundamentally change our understanding of our place in the universe.
