ISS Timelapse - Diving into the Aurora (02 Aug 2026)

These are three nighttime sequences captured by the #ISS while spectacular southern auroras were unfolding over the Indian Ocean; the first two sequences were captured at the same moment, but by two cameras positioned in different spots, while the third captures the flyover during the following orbit.
Aside from the aurora and the starry sky, there's also the unmistakable myriad of low Earth orbit satellite reflections dancing along the horizon.
Be careful not to mistake the camera sensor's hot pixels (static bright dots) for actual stars, which instead move in accordance with the ISS's motion.

The video is sped up about 10 times compared to the actual speed of the Station.
