Flight 11 marked the end of an important chapter in SpaceX’s Starship program. It was the final mission to feature the second-generation systems—Starship V2, Booster V1, Raptor 2 engines, and the original Pad 1. Each played a key role in shaping Starship’s evolution, but their retirement signals the dawn of something greater. The upcoming generation—Starship V3, Raptor 3, and the new Pad 2—will define the next era of development, beginning with Flight 12.
The main question now is: when will Flight 12 launch? Two windows are being discussed—late this year or early next year—with growing optimism for a 2025 debut. Elon Musk stated during the Flight 10 livestream that the V3 system will operate through 2025 and 2026, suggesting that the first launch could happen before year’s end. Gwynne Shotwell’s remarks have also hinted at a similar timeframe, giving further weight to a late-2025 launch target.

If SpaceX maintains its current pace, the company has roughly two months to prepare for Flight 12 by December’s end—a window well within its capabilities. It would be a missed opportunity not to take advantage of this momentum, especially following the success of Flight 11.
In terms of progress, work on the key systems appears to be moving forward steadily. On the vehicle side, the next Super Heavy booster, designated B18, is nearly complete. Its forward section was recently moved to the Mega Bay, which indicates that stacking could begin soon. This forward section is not believed to be the same as the test tank segment that was relocated back in September, meaning that B18 is now entering its final stages of assembly.
