'No Kings' Protest Draws Thousands in Chicago
Eddie Johnson, former Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, discussed with Steve Lance, NTD Washington, D.C. bureau chief, and host of Capitol Report, how law enforcement officers manage crowds and public safety during events like the "No Kings" protest, that reportedly drew thousands in Chicago on Saturday. Johnson also discussed the challenges for law enforcement on the ground during the anti-ICE protests that continue in Chicago, the protocols for using tear gas, and his observations of law enforcement officers' use of it. Johnson also discussed the implications of a federal judge in Chicago ordering U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to wear body cameras, and the Trump administration's emergency request to the U.S. Supreme Court to pause an order by a federal judge in Illinois that blocked the federal government from deploying the National Guard to Illinois.
