This week we took on a volunteer project that got way out of hand. Our daughter’s high school marching band needed massive portable stages for their field show. And since we run a craft studio with lasers, who better to build them?

What started as a simple “we’ll help out” turned into a full-blown engineering challenge: 17 sheets of warped half-inch plywood, glue pockets, taco-shaped boards, and a laser that refused to cut through. After six failed passes, smoke, and charred wood everywhere, we had to think fast.

Using LightBurn’s Print & Cut feature, we flipped the boards and discovered a genius two-pass method to finally get clean cuts — saving the entire project just in time for delivery. These props went from chaos in the shop to shining on the football field!
