My New Favorite Dish In Vietnam, HCMC

Ready? We're gonna go get my new favorite dish in the city. I got the little man with me. You ready to eat? Do you know what we're gonna get? Egg and shrimp. What's it called in Vietnamese? I don't know. Cơm tôm phú chưng. Yes. This is like the new viral dish in the city. It's everywhere on TikTok. It's blowing up and there's a reason. It's freaking good. So cơm means rice, tôm means shrimp. I think phú is like a blanket. I'm not sure about that one. Help me out in the comments. I don't know what phú means, but chưng means egg. So I think this is like an egg blanket on shrimp rice. I think. Uh-oh. Man, we almost had an accident there. That bike, that taxi almost hit that bike. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You're going a little fast there, young man. I don't know if this spot is a new spot or a new dish, but all of a sudden it's viral. And I never saw it before, so maybe it's new. I'm not sure, but it's freaking delicious. Definitely my new favorite thing. Definitely the thing I crave the most. I think this is going to be my fourth time going here. I really like it. I like it too. Yeah, it's a really good one. I think very soon we're going to see this dish everywhere at every stir fried spot because this is going so viral right now. This is it. You can get the egg blanket thing with gallop or shrimp or squid. They have a few other options. I don't know, I just want to get shrimp. Come on. But we know what we're going to get, right? Yeah. You can get it with crab too. You can get it with baby clam. The shrimp price is awesome here, but I think it would be a mistake. Oh, so sad. Crab, that's so upsetting. All right, maybe we'll get something else. That's so upsetting. I was just about to say, it's so exciting. They have a breaded pork chop. You can get that over the rice or with the egg too, but I just get it on the side. So I usually get the shrimp with the fried piece of pork on the side. It's amazing, but they don't have it. So we'll try the other thing. They have a pork belly stir fried with fish sauce and garlic, which looks good as well. I just never tried it. So maybe this is the perfect day to try it. I bet they're having a good time, but I don't think they're going to have as good of a lunch as we are. What do you remember about this place from last time? You've been here once before, right? What else do they have on the menu? Let's look. They also have spaghetti on the menu, which is terrible. Don't get that. It's really bad. Stir-fried noodles, stir-fried glass noodles, stir-fried egg noodles, stir-fried macaroni noodle, seaweed soup. They have different kinds of fried rice. Seafood fried rice, but really. If you're coming here, get the fuchung. Get it with the egg blanket. I'm excited. You're excited? I'm excited too. I'm excited to try the new pork belly thing. I bet your mommy's going to like that one. Oh, it's hot today though, dude. Yeah, we got to get back to the studio. I got to get that air conditioning on me. You said you remember the egg from last time. What do you remember about the egg from last time? Very flat. Yeah, very flat and very soft and very, like, fairly cooked. It's still a nice salt egg. It's not dry. That's the thing that kind of makes it stand out here. That's the thing that makes it special to me. Most of the eggs you're going to get here are going to be really, really well cooked. And this one's still really tender. Good. Oh, we went there. That's where Michael and I went with Missing Ass. Banh mi chao sumo. Here, this is, uh, you might remember from like, I think probably maybe the last video or two videos ago. This is right across the street. There's that banh mi sumo with the kombucha or the kombucha and the, uh, pan bread. So that's cool. It might even be worth it if you're hungry to try both of them. That's a good one. That's a good spot. And kombucha is good there too. What's a kombucha? Kombucha is a naturally fermented drink. It's healthy for you. This kind is a little bit sour, a little bit sweet, a little bit bitter. Thirds is a little bit tannic. It's good. What do you want to do with the beach? We can go to Moinant. You want to go to the same beach we went to last time? With the Ferry Stream. Remember Ferry Stream? Oh, yeah. Yeah. You want to go to that one? That one is good. We can go back. I didn't shoot that one last time and go and shoot it. Now we're just with the family. Dude, my eyes hurt. I need sunglasses. I think I see some freaking Hale Chee and Siu Tan there. It's all right. Forced me to try the new pork belly. Okay, but I wanted to show you guys that one because I really like that pork chop. If you come, get the Hale Chee and Siu Tan or Hale Chee and Siu. That one's good. Yeah, but don't get the spaghetti. Remember Jadie got it? Jadie always gets spaghetti, but this one is particularly terrible. Although Jadie loved it and maybe the locals love it too, but it's definitely not. It's not the spaghetti I want. I'd rather have Jollibee. I'd rather have not that either. I think that one's pretty crappy too. Don't tell mommy and Jadie, but I'm going to make spaghetti for their dinner. I'm going to make two pasta courses for the next pop-up. It's Pretty in Pink for Women's Day. We had two special ladies coming as guests. Jadie loves pasta. Mommy loves seafood spaghetti, so it's going to show up. She likes it. This place is busy. This place is busy? Yeah, this place is packed. I don't know if they have more than one location. I don't see anything about any more than one location, but this place is pumping all over TikTok right now. They have a second location in Tan Hung. Where's that? I never heard of that. 52 Street 81 P Tan Hung. What the hell is Tan Hung? Is that the new names of the city? Oh, that's where we are right now. So where's the other location? The other location is in District 10, 199 Nguyen Lam. So there's one on the other side of the city if this is too far for you. The city apparently just renamed all the different districts. I'm not hip or up to date on that yet. Come on. Here, let's look at it. Oh, there's our pork belly with garlic. Oh, it's so fatty. Too fatty for me. He's just going straight in. Liam's straight in. You good? Yeah, this is super yolky. Yolky with yolk, egg yolk. So you can kind of see the shrimp on top here and this sort of egg blanket. The rice underneath and that the yolk is still pretty soft. There's still some soft egg on top, which is really cool. Tomato cucumber comes with a sauce. It's kind of just like chili sauce and soybean sauce. I'm going to, I'm going to chili that up. Now it's even spicier. Yeah, now it's spicier. That's good. It's very simple. It's just good. Like the rice is not dry. The rice is moist. The egg is moist. Most of the time, this food is just super overcooked. So this place is great just because they, to me, they cook it properly. And the pork belly looks good. Covered with fish sauce and garlic. So much fat though. Yeah. You like it? Good, not as good as the fried pork chop. The fried pork chop is way better to me. I don't need that. I don't need to get that again. So good. It's good, it's fine. But it doesn't stand out to me like the other two. This belongs to the kings and queens. I ate food for the king and the queen. You feeling like a king right now? Little king. I'm a prince. Yeah. The prince of what? Pennsylvania. The prince of Pennsylvania. Actually, the pork belly is pretty good now. Getting better. My first piece didn't have any fat, so it was dry. But now these pieces are better. I like this dish. I have a hard question for you. Ready? Liam's favorite food is cam ga soi ma, which is a fried chicken leg over rice like this. Do you like this as much? Which wins, cam ga soi ma or cam tom phu chung? This. This is better? This is your new favorite? Wow, wow. But still, I like cam ga soi ma. Wow, that's a big deal. I agree. If I get the fried pork chop, then this is better. Still, I like cam ga soi ma. You like cam ga soi ma more? Yeah, I know you're always going to like that one. It's always your favorite. This one's a freaking winner. I wish mom and Trey and Jay were here. Oh, yeah. We'll come back. Don't worry. Yeah. When I eat the chili, it hurts, but it also tastes good and I like it. Kind of weird, right? I was feeling like going to the pool. You want to go to the pool? Definitely the right day for it. Definitely. Would you want to give it a rating? One to ten? Nine. Yeah, it's a nine. Pork bellies is seven. If I had the fried pork chop on this plate, I'd be nine and a half. I love it so much. Do you want a bubble tea? Let's go get it. You want to get a check? Yeah. Oh man, if I'm full, you must be freaking full. Or maybe I should say super full. Super good. Are you paying? What? Total bill is 166, so it's like six dollars. The rice, the rice is 55k, so it's about two dollars a plate. The extra pork was two dollars just by itself. Don't get that. Not for me, at least. I think next time, I would try the fried squid on the side if they didn't have the pork chop. And I think next time, I'm going to get the shrimp and crab egg blanket for the rice. I'm going to try that with the crab. I don't know if it's real crab or if it's the fake crab. I'd be happy either way, honestly. But this is a good spot.
