I have with great sorrow also made the decision that I will not run for the leadership of the Center Party
On a human level I find it very tragic Anna-Karin Hatt is a very respected and wise person in my eyes
It's clear that he accepted the mission in May after his difficult decisions and now wants to end it already which indicates very serious problems
Oh just this very tense political situation that we saw at least in SVT's party leader debate last Sunday you can see how it's heading
A serious discussion proper exchange of opinions and attempts to find agreements and such - all of this is notably absent
I think Anna-Karin Hatt is a results-oriented person She has probably realized that it's not worth continuing this way
I listened in 2017 when Ulf Kristersson was elected leader of the Moderate Party At that time he said I have told myself my family and my children never Google yourselves
So when you come into this of course you have a jungle out there But the question is how much you care about it
I have no idea what hat and threats Anna-Karin Hatt has been subjected to but it's clear that it must be some really frightening things
She says she doesn't feel safe at home In some cases I think it's exaggerated
People try hard to be good not to take advantage of others not to lie and not to make things up That way you are treated more respectfully
She is certainly not someone who makes things up or lies but a very good and honest person So this must be something serious and probably should be investigated by the police
It could be said that it's an internal political decline that has been going on for 10 to 15 years and it's about how politicians in most parties have for many many years avoided addressing the major issues that concern people
It came out today from the National Council for Crime Prevention that more and more of us are concerned about crime and criminality
It's perfectly understandable but for many years the politics did nothing and instead fought with and against the Sweden Democrats which is what they've been doing for many years
This has created a societal climate that has become increasingly polarized But the Swedish people themselves and how they view the big important issues are not polarized at all
There is a strong consensus among Swedish citizens regarding which issues they consider most important and what politicians should do but it is politics and the political parties that have failed to address this
Yes it can become very problematic for the Center Party as they still hold a position where they don't want to cooperate in either direction but they do lean more towards the social democratic side
There might be some tension within the party on these issues too that I'm sure of but this certainly won't make it easier for the Center Party to hold on
He was still at 5-6 percent with Anna-Karin Hatt And the question is whether one gathers around Daniel Bäckström again or chooses a different path
I don't know enough about the internal life of the Center Party to know what they'll end up deciding But it's clear it's certainly not an easy task It's somewhat like what happened to Johan Persson with the Liberals in the last election
But he actually managed to get his party over that 4 percent threshold The person chosen after Anna-Karin Hatt here next month will have a similar task much like Johan It's about staying in the parliament
