I Quit Baseball… But Came Back For One Final Season ⚾

2 years ago, Gavin quit baseball. He finished off his last season of city league (little league) and said he was done with baseball for good. He said we could get rid of all his baseball stuff so that's what we did! Then his friends talked him into playing this year - his 8th grade year and last year of middle school. So he decided last minute to do it and go to tryouts. Obviously a lot changes in baseball from Age 12 to age 14! He did good at tryouts and made the middle school team. But he was a little overwhelmed at how much the game changed in those 2 years. They play on a bigger field (further distance between bases) and the pitching is a lot better (faster and more movement on the ball). And Gavin has NEVER had baseball lessons. He's always played for fun. So no surpise Gavin struggled early on in the season. He looked uncomfortable at the plate and his swing wasn't where it needed to be. After a couple of games, we got Gavin a hitting lesson and his swing drastically improved! He was able to finish off the season as a much improved hitter and player. However, Gavin doesn't LOVE baseball and doesn't want to put forth the extra effort that is needed to be successful at it in high school. His love is football and that's where he wants to spend his time and energy. So we say a final goodbye to Baseball for Gavin. It's been fun! But time to move on.
