After centuries of carefree life in the Flower and Fruit Mountain, the Monkey King begins to ponder the mystery of life and death. His moment of awakening leads him on a bold journey across seas and continents in search of immortality. Along the way, he meets a humble woodcutter whose filial devotion moves him deeply — and finally, he discovers the cave of the Crescent Moon and Three Stars, where he encounters the enlightened Patriarch Subodhi.

In this sacred meeting, the Patriarch recognizes the Monkey’s divine origin — born of Heaven and Earth — and bestows upon him a name that reflects his destiny: Sun Wukong (Awakened to Emptiness).
This marks the beginning of his true spiritual cultivation — the first step toward enlightenment and eternal freedom.
