4 Next 2026 Space Stations, NASA Reveals...
We are witnessing a clear contrast.
The International Space Station, after decades of service, is beginning to show its age. Technical issues are becoming more frequent, and the station is moving closer to the end of its operational life.
At the same time, China’s Tiangong station is demonstrating modern capabilities and showing strong potential for future expansion. This is exactly why the United States must move quickly to establish a successor to the ISS in order to maintain its leadership and advantages in space.
Fortunately, a new generation of commercial space stations is now on the horizon. Several promising projects are taking shape, and some may even become operational as early as next year.
In this episode of Great SpaceX, we will explore the four most promising commercial space stations that could replace the ISS and strengthen NASA’s position in the competition against China.

I will begin with the space station concept that I believe holds the greatest potential. You may have your own rankings, so feel free to share them in the comments.
At the top of my list is the Starship space station.
Originally, I would have placed this second, but Starship’s recent successes, combined with its immense promise, now make it the most compelling option. More importantly, it may very well be the decisive factor that allows the United States to maintain an edge over China in the race for dominance in space.

Although Starship is first and foremost a rocket, its design has always suggested much more. From the beginning, it has been seen as a versatile platform, capable of evolving into a fully functional space station. This flexibility stems from several core strengths that set Starship apart from every other vehicle in development.
The first and most obvious advantage is size. Starship stands more than 50 meters tall and measures 9 meters in diameter. Within this enormous structure, the nosecone area alone provides around 18 meters of usable height for living compartments. This translates into nearly 1,000 cubic meters of habitable volume, even after accounting for the tapered shape of the nose. To put that into perspective, this is comparable to, and in some ways even greater than, the total usable volume of the entire International Space Station.
