Where Architecture Becomes Part of the Landscape | House on the Hill

House on the Hill by HW Studio in Morelia, Mexico, is a 250 m² residence designed as a protective retreat that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Inspired by the simple act of pulling a bedsheet over oneself for comfort, the house rises like a new hill within the forested landscape. Four concrete walls frame the entry and support a green roof, guiding visitors through a solitary path that leads into a cave-like concrete vault. Using raw materials such as concrete, stone, wood, and steel, the design embraces permanence and natural transformation, while open layouts connect both to a ravine and a private courtyard. The result is a poetic, timeless home that balances intimacy, shelter, and harmony with nature.
