Don’t give the devil any chance or opportunity to get a foothold in your life. The devil is wiley (or we would say “tricky”) and he will bring thoughts against your mind, trying to get you to take hold of his lies with reasonings and imaginations. Everything the devil does is to try to get people to yield to him. If what you’re believing is not bringing you joy, you’re not believing the truth.

2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us we can overcome the devils trickery by “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” Jesus gave believers authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We don’t have to take his thoughts, rather we are to resist them.

Answer the devil’s thoughts with what the Bible says concerning the situation. Tell that lying spirit to leave in the name of Jesus and stop paying attention to it. Then praise God continually for the victory that is yours in Christ!
