Good morning everybody. The truck just got here so we are gonna get started loading him up.
We have the sweep auger running in the bin so we're scooping behind that
and yeah after we load him up the other truck shouldn't be too far behind.
Okay so in case anybody has never seen a sweep auger um this is that's a sweep auger
and when we are in the bin when we start pulling out of a bin we open up that center sump there
pull all that we can out of there that flows by itself then we have these intermediate sumps along
here sweep auger starts right there so when it's cleared out a little path in front of it
then we start the sweep auger and it goes around the bin just sucking everything in as it goes
and we go behind it you can see it leaves some then as it goes around we go around and scoop
up and over anything that it leaves behind so that it goes around once and then the floor
is nice and clean so hopefully that makes sense if I explained that correctly but yeah
we've loaded out several loads since the sweep auger started and
we are probably going to be cleaning this bin out today if things go well.
First step to being in the bin though is to put on a mask because
it gets dusty especially with soybeans. Soybeans are horrible they are have so much dust
and it's definitely not good to be breathing in so I'm going to get a mask on then we'll get started.
The most annoying thing with beans is that they overflow
over the sweep auger really easily and then they leave these big piles to scoop up.
Okay we are finished with the first load I don't know when the next truck will be here though.
Okay well the first truck just left second truck is pulling in now so not much of a break there
but we're gonna get in and get him loaded and then we'll have a little bit of a break.
I won't record this time because my poor camera has been in the dusty bin long enough and I feel
bad for it but we're gonna get the second truck loaded. Okay it is about a quarter till 10.
Two trucks have been loaded um I don't know if my hair is like kind of gray it kind of gets like a
gray color to it um when I'm in the green dust but um ignore that. Anyways we are headed to do pig
chores right now because we did not do pig chores before the truck came so we're gonna get those
done and then see what we need to work on next but the truck is supposed to be back at like 11 30
somewhere around there so then we'll be loading both of those again and cleaning out that bin.
I think we'll definitely be getting it cleaned out within the next two loads
so that'll be good to have done and then we will be done hauling soybeans and that will be all of
our soybeans uh hauled and sold. I don't know when we'll be selling corn but for now it's good to have
soybeans sold. So these pigs are getting so big.
Okay pig chores are done it is 10 o'clock so did not take too long at all today and they're all
looking really good. We are back down at the bin now it's about 10 30 so we have about an hour until
the next truck gets here um the next job that we're going to be working on is going to be
installing a temperature sensor in this bin. I don't know a lot about it or like what the
installation process is going to look like exactly but it should uh help us to be able to
monitor the temperature of the corn or beans inside the bin all year round from the outside
so that if it so we can make sure that it never starts spoiling and heating up because when it
starts to spoil it starts to heat up so um if we can monitor the temperature from the outside we can
keep a close eye on how the grain is storing in the bin so we'll get out here and start working
on getting this set up. I'm not sure what all it'll be but I kind of show you guys the process.
He changed it up.
Okay we have been working on the temperature sensor uh we've got it almost installed
it's been just had to run wire up the top of the bin conduit up the top of the bin
get everything situated um so I haven't recorded much because when I'm way up on the very top of
that bin it's just better if I'm not having to worry about a camera because it's already like
you're way up in the air on top of the bin it's just the less things you have to worry about on
top of working up there it's just better so did not get much footage but we're getting it also
it is so hot it's like over 100 degrees inside the bin and the roof of that bin is so so hot
and I was only up there for a little bit on top of it but dad's been up there for a long time so
it's very hot and not the ideal job to be doing on a hot day but anyways
the truck just got back so we're gonna get him loaded and then after that the other truck should
get here pretty soon. There's our cable that tells us the temperature we need to anchor it down here
and then here's the beans we have left so we're making progress
Liza's trying some scooping. I think she's getting tired. Okay what do you think? I'm not good at it.
You did good. Okay just finished this load. Should be able to get the rest of this on one load.
I don't know how much footage I'll be able to get when we do it but the way we do it is the
sweep auger goes all the way through then once it gets through we turn the sweep auger off and then
we just scoop the rest of the beans into the other augers there. Okay y'all the second truck got here
right after the first truck so we didn't exactly get a break but we got the truck loaded the bin
is emptied soybeans are done we got all the soybeans hauled for the year all the soybeans
from last year's crop are sold so I'm drenched in sweat I'm hot and I'm tired so we aren't done yet
though we gotta feed some hay while we're over here so we're gonna do that then hopefully head
home and get a drink and take a little break. I got the little gang up here
seeing what trouble they can cause. I'll approach them. Hi guys! I don't think they like me very much
so we have three hay rings so we feed three hay bales at a time they are out on pasture but we
don't have a lot of pasture and they keep it down pretty good so we also feed hay to supplement
Flossie doesn't like moving for tractors she takes it as a insult to her pride if she has
to move out of the way very quickly so she just casually walks that way you just think that she
just is moving because she wants to not because the tractor's there. Hi Flossie you gonna leave me really
I was gonna pet her and she just leaves she's been getting muddy hasn't she
I'm gonna close this gate back up then we're gonna pin this gate open
because they need to go through this walk-through gate because it has
this thing on it which has fly spray in there and then they walk under it and it gets some nice
fly spray on them to help keep the flies off of them a little bit because the flies are
terrible this time of year. Got the strings took off all the hay bales and now we can head home
