Casa ZTG, a private residence located in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Mexico.
Designed as a residence for an elderly couple, the house's architectural character evokes
serenity, elegance, and a sense of timelessness.
From the exterior, the residence is bold, with high marble walls that simultaneously
protect the living space.
Situated on a 1,200 square meter flat plot, the house is built in a simple rectangular
shape.
Its facade combines brick walls with Roman Travertine marble cladding, creating a monumental
feel.
The front of the house is marked by a high, opaque wall featuring an L-shaped reflecting
pool, creating a dramatic play of light and shadow.
A single, low, horizontal opening at the corner of the facade serves as an entryway.
The architect's decision to design this house as an introverted residence stemmed from its
surrounding context.
The lack of significant views actually encourages the home's orientation inward.
The minimal use of glass on the exterior also helps reduce solar heat exposure, maintaining
thermal comfort while enhancing the occupant's privacy.
Step inside Casa ZTG, the atmosphere immediately transforms from the closed-off exterior to
a serene, contemplative space.
Behind the solid marble facade lies a long, high-ceilinged hallway, leading us to the
heart of the house.
This hallway is not simply a circulation space, but a visual and emotional journey.
As we walk further, our gaze is drawn to the verdant inner garden at the center of the
house.
Large windows along the hallway reveal lush vegetation, providing a natural contrast against
the stone and wood walls.
In this way, the hallway not only connects spaces, but also connects people with the
natural world intentionally brought inside.
On either side of the hallway are the main rooms of the house, the kitchen, the formal
dining room, the living room, and the master bedroom.
However, the hallway's presence prevents these spaces from interfering with each other.
It acts as the heart of the house, uniting private and public functions while maintaining
a calm flow.
With its introverted nature, this house becomes a private oasis in the heart of the Guadalajara
metropolitan area.
Independent of the external landscape, Casa ZTG creates a world of its own, where light,
water, stone, and wood blend harmoniously.
The beauty of Casa ZTG lies in the combination of simple forms and rich material details.
The architects chose textures, colors, and patterns that possess timeless sensory, physical,
and aesthetic qualities.
Each element creates a distinct spatial experience, warm, monumental, and yet calming.
More than just a residence, Casa ZTG is an architectural statement of quiet elegance.
A home that does not seek external attention, but finds its true beauty in the intimate
relationship between space, materials, and its inhabitants.
