Puppy News! Ultrasound Day with our Golden Retriever!

Hey y'all. Welcome back to Brashers Down South. I'm Emily and today we are taking our golden retriever Maddie to the vet to see if she's pregnant. We've got an ultrasound scheduled today and the kids are going to go with us. They're super excited to find out if Maddie's pregnant. And so me and Miss Maddie are just taking a quick little walk and then we're going to head out to the vet. So let's get into it. Kaso. Come here buddy. Oh bless your heart. Bless your heart. Hey beans. For Hullys. Do you have babies in there? We hope so. Say hi. She's fat. She's been a little over 20 days. Yeah. Okay. Who thinks we're having puppies? Me. Really? Do you think she's pregnant? Are we prepared for puppies? You do? Yes. Do you think she's having puppies yes or no? Me. You do? Yes. What do you think? Are we even prepared for puppies? Are we prepared? I have no idea. You don't know? Maybe, I think we're going to have, if we don't lose one, I think we might have like 9 or 8 puppies. Okay, what about you dad? How about 9 to 8? I think she might be pregnant but I don't think they're going to see them. Really? Yes. Oh. Then we're going to be in suspense. Oh. I think she is pregnant and she's going to have 8 to 9 puppies. That's what you think? Yeah. I'm hoping I'm wrong. I'm hoping they can confirm it but I'm not having a lot of babies. I don't have, I don't, I'm kind of feeling that way too. Hey girls. Does she have babies? She does. Yay! I love that, I love that. How many? Not that yet. But they're in there? Yes. Yay! This puppy right here has a happy face. How many do you have? We wouldn't know yet. This is the baby right here. Cool. Awesome. Dad, lookie there. There's another one up here out of the view just a little bit. Awesome. Don't touch it. Good job girl. She scanned both horns so she has puppies on both sides. To tell you how many. It was just those two. Yeah. They can't tell you how many are there. Do we come around there to check her out? Alright guys, we made it back from the vet and as you saw Maddie is pregnant. So I wanted to tell you guys a little bit about what that means for us now that she's pregnant. So the first thing that I'm going to do is let all of the people that's on our wait list know. So they're going to be super excited to find out that they are going to be getting a puppy this spring slash summer and we don't breed unless there's a demand. So we like to do a litter or two a year but it's based off of demand and I have a relatively full wait list. I may have a spot or two left for this litter but it's pretty full. So I'm going to be letting everybody know and getting in touch with everybody to get all their information and everything squared away for that. So that's step one. So we'll have about 36-ish days from now until we will have puppies on the ground. It's crazy how fast it goes. So she's due sometime between May 9th and May 16th. It's kind of a range this time because we're not 100% sure on the day that she conceived. So we've got a little bit of a range but that's okay. So we'll be looking for puppies during that week and she'll have an x-ray to count puppies somewhere around the 50 day mark. That'll be after Easter and we'll do an x-ray to count puppy spines and see how many puppies we're going to have tentatively. So we'll be doing that and then just getting the puppy nursery ready which is always fun, making sure our whelping kit is complete. So those are the big things that we'll be doing to get ready for these upcoming babies and we are super excited. Like I said, we just have one or two litters a year. We're not big breeders by any stretch of the imagination. I don't even like to call myself a breeder. We have two mom dogs that are our family pet and the daddy dog is also our family pet. So we are a happy family with three golden retrievers and they have produced some absolutely beautiful quality family pets and we are so proud of them. Our grandbabies, our grandpuppies are some of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen but I am a little bit biased. So we are just super excited about this upcoming litter. Guys, I'm editing this video and I had to throw in this clip of the puppies from our last litter. Are you kidding me right now? A wagon full of golden retriever puppies? It doesn't get any better than that. These guys were absolutely angels at the vet that day and they are so sweet and I just absolutely can't wait till May. So I just had to throw that in.
