Joe from Mini Golden Paradise provides an update on Jayla's litter of 12 puppies (4 girls, 8 boys), now just over four weeks old. He discusses their developmental progress through the Omega Star Pup Academy, explains the genetic makeup of miniature golden retrievers, details the health testing of the parents, and demonstrates the daily socialization and handling techniques used to ensure the puppies are well-adjusted.
Hi everybody, welcome back to Mini Golden Paradise.
My name is Joe, and today we're doing an update on Jayla's litter.
So we have a whole pile of puppies here as you can see.
There's 12, there's 4 girls, and there's 8 boys.
So there's one blue cream colored guy here, otherwise lots of shades of red.
So these puppies are just over 4 weeks old now, day 31 of their life.
So you can kind of see the spread we have here with toys,
different obstacles they are being introduced to.
So we do, we put all our puppies through the Omega Star Pup Academy.
So this is just the one step here, week 4.
Different obstacles, different toys.
We have all sorts of different footprints and handprints with this tactile stimulation.
We have soft toys, we have little balls with texture on them,
just for the stimulation of the puppies.
These puppies are progressing really, really well.
They're talking quite a bit, which means that they are maturing.
And so yeah, like I said, just over 4 weeks old.
And they're just doing great. We're very, very excited.
We have a couple of spots taken, but there's still puppies available.
So if you guys are interested, please reach out to us.
So I get a lot of questions, excuse me.
I get a lot of questions about what is a miniature golden retriever.
So all of our parents are multi-generational golden retrievers.
Are they a purebred golden retriever? No, they are not.
They are majority golden retriever with cocker spaniel.
Some of them have a little bit of cavalier.
These specific puppies do not.
They have majority golden retriever with a little bit of cocker spaniel and a tiny bit of poodle.
Now, this is multi-generational.
These parents have been miniature golden retrievers as well for a couple of generations.
So we know what we have. We know what we're getting.
We can plan for colors. We can plan for size.
So yeah, I mean, just a little bit. I get a ton of questions about that.
You know, what is it?
So if you guys, if you have any more questions about that, feel free to reach out.
I just wanted to quick mention to you guys along with the multi-generational golden retriever parents,
basically the pedigree, the testing that our adult dogs go through,
which is the MBARC health testing.
That is first and foremost.
And then we also do hip and elbow testing.
We do cardiac and patellas as well.
So basically any testing that any responsible golden retriever breeder would do,
we also do that in our breeding program to ensure that all of our puppies are in the best possible health.
Just to eliminate as much as we can as far as genetic health issues, hips, elbows, all that kind of stuff.
So I just wanted to point that out to you guys.
One other thing, we are continuing with the puppy cuddles or the petting,
the handling, basically the daily socialization.
So I want to show you guys what we're doing, how we're handling these puppies every day.
So I have a little dark red little fellow here.
So we start with the reverse petting against the grain of the hair out to the nose.
Tap on his nose just a little bit.
Open the mouth just a tiny bit.
And then we pull on the ears.
Go back to the tail.
Just gently tug on the tail just a tiny bit.
And then we separate the toes.
This is just for when these puppies grow up, when they have to go to the vet, when all this has to happen.
They're not scared or anything.
And then we flip them onto their back, fully secured with two hands.
You can see this little fellow.
Just look at how relaxed he is.
This is a learned behavior.
He is just totally, totally chill.
He doesn't care.
For a puppy that does not go through a Megastar, does not get early neurological stimulation, this does not happen for that.
So I just want to point that out.
So each puppy gets this treatment every day.
So, yeah, again, guys, this is J-Lo's litter.
There's four girls.
There's eight boys.
We do have some availability left.
Mostly red.
We have one cream-colored guy here.
He is quite a bit lighter than the others are.
He's a nice, small little fellow.
But otherwise, just we're very happy with the pups, very happy with the progress.
And we look forward to hearing from you guys.
Thank you guys for watching.
