Hi and welcome to another Watch Geek video. Today, we're taking a closer look at the new
Boltony Datejust Homage 39. As the name suggests, it is a 39mm variant. They also offer a 36mm one,
but that one is an older model and only available with stick markers. I say older because I have
been reviewing Boltony for about 2 years now and the brand that used to have finished quality that
you would expect for a couple hundred dollars, which is what most of their models cost,
has improved so much that I'm still speechless when I put their watches under macro. So if you
go for the 36mm variant, I simply do not know if the quality will be on the same level as this
newer model. And this, just like I said in the unboxing, has lived up to the expectations.
Gone are the days of dirty, greasy, and poorly finished cheap watches from China,
and the only thing left from those old days is their price. This is a $200 watch with the Seiko
NH35 movement, a sapphire crystal with an actually usable magnification for the date,
a two-tone steel case flawlessly polished, a solid-linked jubilee bracelet with a milled-out
clasp and comfort to die for, and incredibly well-finished dial, hands, and markers.
I'm again shocked at the level of quality you get for the price. These applied Roman numerals are
pretty complex to make, and yet Boltony not only shaped them correctly, giving them a slight
curvature to follow the roundness of the dial, but they're also flawlessly cut with no visible
irregularities, and polished to a mirror finish on all sides. This makes them not only stand out
over the silver dial, but also makes them come alive as you tilt the watch and the light hits
them at different angles. It's the same thing with the hands. Polished, beveled, and thin,
they're beautiful with a delicate look to them. I was going to say I wish the seconds and minute
hands were longer to reach the railroad track at the edge of the dial, but then I noticed they
actually end where the curvature of the applied numerals ends, and for the first time ever,
I think that looks better than if they were longer. The sunburst silver dial joins the play
of light and so does the fluted bezel with clean cut teeth, and again, incredible finish for the
money. The result is a watch that is not for the faint of heart, as this thing looks and feels
more like jewelry on wrist than a time-telling device, but I guess that is the point of a day
just. It is blingy, it attracts attention, and although I don't usually like watches like that
for everyday wear, sometimes I want something flashy and something that sparkles as I move it.
So I think this type of a watch does have a place in everyone's collection, and I know I will be
adding a Rolex variant sometime in the future. The only difference will be the size, as I will be
going for 36, but I feel I am too young for that phase so it will take some years before I reach
that phase. Until then, I might get the Boltony to wear when I feel like it, but it won't be this,
as this one has been claimed by my wife as soon as I showed it to her, which explains
why the Rolex Datejust is one of the most recognizable and desired watches in the world.
If, like me, you want to try it or feel like you're still not ready to wear the real deal,
this thing for $200 will not only give you the looks, but also quality way above its price point.
Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed and found it useful.
If you did, please like and subscribe and until the next video, bye.
