In the north-east of Guyana, almost 460 km of coastline defy the Atlantic Ocean. Mangrove forests and brackish water swamps are the habitat of sea turtles, the bizarre four-eyed fish or hoatzins. This is where 90% of Guyanese live in a constant battle against the water and the dangers of the ocean. And yet Caribbean serenity characterises everyday life - with an uncertain future. An exciting combination of Caribbean and former British colony, six different ethnic groups live together peacefully.
