Regeringen vill skärpa säkerheten runt riksdagen efter återkommande ordningsstörningar. Justitieminister Gunnar Strömmer (M) föreslår dygnet runt-bevakning, utökat skyddsobjektsområde och större befogenheter för polisen. Alla riksdagspartier står bakom förslaget.
The political climate in Sweden has become increasingly heated following the October 7th attacks on Israel
In the past six months we have seen attacks on elected officials and ministers who were followed home
The government is taking action to change this
The police have established a special event to protect the upcoming election
Police should be given more flexibility to handle threatening situations during demonstrations
It starts with the police stepping forward most noticeably following experiences during the spring
It got very chaotic outside the parliament in a way that was not reasonably acceptable
They now use all the space that exists in the legislation to also intervene against demonstrations
Those that are not permitted and that go off track
But at the same time it is also a reality that the legislation in some areas is toothless
But the police often lack legal support to maintain order and safety
Then I said today that we intend to go to the Riksdag with proposals regarding the police gaining more flexibility
When it indicates another time and place
A part that someone might have applied for when wanting to carry out a demonstration
This means defending the right to demonstrate but still having some flexibility as to when and where this demonstration can take place
But today it has also been raised from several sides about how to specifically look at non-authorized gathering stations
Sometimes it arises from applying for a permit
In such cases we must then look at other legislation the police law
Oh I've said that I'm open to it even though I don't have any concrete news today
