Right now, we are still in the final flights of Booster V1 and Ship V2. The V3 version is expected to represent a breakthrough transformation for Starship, a step forward in design and capability that will pave the way for greater achievements. For a long time, many people, myself included, believed that V3 would be the giant 150-meter version that has often been hinted at. However, more recent signs have shown that this is not the case. V3 is not that colossal version, and there appears to be another, more advanced design waiting in the future. That version is now officially confirmed.

In Elon Musk’s Technical Update presentation just before Flight 10, the existence of a Starship V4 was revealed. In those slides, we saw that V3 is only 124.4 meters tall. This means that the update provided last year is no longer accurate. V3, at this stage, should be viewed as a transitional version. It introduces breakthrough upgrades such as new catching points, a redesigned heat shield on Ship, an updated hot-staging system, redesigned grid fins for Super Heavy, and a new engine model. While those features are impressive, the truly revolutionary changes belong to V4.
