BalanceSculpt - This class will strengthen & tone the whole body w/strength-based exercises & balance fundamentals inspired by ballet, yoga, & Pilates. (Equipment - band (superband, tube or theraband, loop band), squishy ball, gliders or hand towels folded in lieu of gliders, light weights).
the body, so a little bit different than yesterday's hip class, not so much jumping and that you'll
need. Oh, by the way, if you're new, my name is Amy. I'm an instructor with the Bay Clubs in the Bay Area.
It's so good to have you. Good morning, Judy. Good morning, everyone. Equipment needs. So
you have your dumbbells. Dumbbells aren't necessary. Frozen water bottles, water bottles
that are not frozen. Canned goods, I'm sure you have some of those. Gliders, now gliders
aren't necessary either. You can get some hand towels and use those on hardwood surfaces. If
you have carpet, paper plates, the kind that are waxy, those work great too. A band,
any type of band, and the playlist is Balance Sculpt is today's date. All right, let's get started.
Also, this class is shoes optional. I'm deciding to keep my shoes off this morning, so yeah,
let's go ahead and get along unless you just want that playlist. All right, you guys,
roll out your knees. How are you guys feeling? Be good. Are you getting a little bit of fresh air,
please? I posted that our refrigerator decided to die of all times just the other day.
Thankfully, we were able to get a replacement, but I was in panic mode for just a little bit.
Good. All right, a nice scoop with a foot out in front, all the way up. Abs, squat, tap,
tap, tap. Good. Take it nice and wide, side to side. Feet back together before we go down. Lunges,
lunge twist, lunge twist. Toes pointed into the floor.
Good. Elbows back, palms down.
Good. Arms overhead and down. Reach. Open up those ribs.
Good. Arm across the chest.
Curl and pull.
Good. And then standing center, we're going to roll all the way down plank position,
stepping one foot forward and opening up. Oh, that's nice. Good. Switch sides.
Get that foot as high and as flat as you can up near your hands. Good. Again.
Good. One more time.
Get to your hands. Stay right here. Soft bend in the knees and then keeping your hands on the floor,
bend and straighten. Good. Nice. Go ahead and roll all the way up to standing.
Good. Open and close. Good. Take those hands out. We're going to do some thumbs up, thumbs down.
Really thinking about squeezing those shoulder blades together, getting activated back
in that back region. Good. And then shoulder retractions. Arms come out in front of you and
all you're doing is pulling your shoulders back. Looking to squeeze together. Excellent.
Good. You guys feel a little warmer? I do. All right. We're going to get started. Now,
to begin, we're going to activate the glutes. One of the best ways to combat that seated position
that we are doing a lot of right now is to do some glute activation walking side to side.
Okay. I'm going to take in a stand with no, with handles. I do the same thing.
Try and keep your chest lifted though. We're just going to take it side to side
walking. Walk side to side.
Round the quads. You should start to feel some heat building. Beautiful. Good. A couple more.
Excellent. Okay. We're moving around the calves. I'm going to triple my band. If you don't have
the ability to do so because it's a band with the handles, do what you can. Maybe
wrap it around, get a little lower, hold it. It's just for activation. You ready?
Walk. Good. There's that one. All right. There we'll work. Good job, you guys.
And down to the ankles. Now, if you
