I am going to run to the top of that
mountain, but not from the base, not
from Garden of the Gods, not even from
the middle of the city, but from my
apartment on the far side of the city.
[Music]
Keep
cruising.

Do you get the whatifs? You know the
little voice that gnaws in your brain
and plagues you? Every day I go for a
run, I get to look up at Pikees Peak.
You see, when I was training to do my
first half marathon, there was a day I
was doing a 8mm run. Now, this was the
furthest run I had done yet. And I
remember at mile seven feeling decent.
And I thought, could I just continue on
for the half marathon today? And every
new distance I've trained for, I have
that thought. And every day that I run
and see Pike's Peak, I wonder, what if I
just started running towards the
mountain? Could I run to the very top
from home? Am I capable? I've thought of
this what if for the past three years.
And today we're going to try to make
this what if a reality.
I will run all the way through Colorado
Springs on sidewalks. Then we'll arrive
at Garden of the Gods. I will run
through the park until we arrive at
Manitou Springs. And after conquering
Manitou, we'll stumble to the famous
trail head of Bar Trail. This will be
the 20-mi mark. Then the climb begins.
The mountain is unforgiving and it goes
from 6,500 ft in elevation to 14,100 ft
with an average of 11 to 12% grade. The
mountain is no joke and every day it
takes people to their limits. Many wish
they never hiked it and sadly others
never made it off the mountain. So I'll
see you first thing tomorrow morning.

Nice thing about this time of Okay.
Is the world yours?
The roads,
everything.
I'm a bad boy today. I brought coffee
and a and a running bladder. But do you
know what? We're going to have a good
day.
Today is going to be a really fun day.
Let's get it.
Now we kind of come into the city. Let's
get the sucker onto the tunnels. Huh?
[Music]
Do this to me. But you start to play
later this
day.
And I promise myself it will never.
But getting an early head start for the
mountains can definitely help you avoid
bad weather. Give yourself a little
margin for whatever surprises we
encounter.

We clicked off 5 miles. Sunrises in 1
hour. I'd love to get to Garden of the
Gods early enough that we get some of
that morning sunlight on the rocks.
That's always beautiful. If they were
open, I'd go pick up some gels or some
sort of nutrition. But gas stations will
have to do today. What do you mean,
Kramer? You're not prepared. I brought
two RX bars, but we'll use a couple gas
stations as aid stations. Pick up food
today and some more electrolytes. I go
slow enough that real food's not hard
for me. And frankly, I'm tired of gels a
little bit. enough running nutrition
just gets dull. I mean, I'd rather have
a burrito with gut issues. I hope I'm
not predicting the future because I
really want a burrito today.
Needed some breakfast. The one time you
don't actually care to wait at a
stoplight.
Breakfast is down the hatch. This is the
entry to Santa Fe Trail.
busted. We're going to the top of that
sucker.
[Music]
Okay, say it with me. Goodbye disgusting
river.
[Music]
All right, the sun's up. I can see Pikes
Peak now. Keep rolling.
[Music]
Just wanted some more liquids before the
next 7m stretch.
And I wanted some more caffeine.
All right, that'll feel good in about 10
minutes.
Hey guys, it's me in the car wash.
[Music]
This is where it gets cool. So, we're
hitting Dakota Trail. Going to come to
the back side of Garden of the Gods. So,
we get like a little mini trail here.
And then in five or six miles, we'll hit
the real trail head. In the meantime,
let's enjoy this. Get away from some car
noises and get some birds, baby. That's
what we need.
[Music]
Heat. Heat.
[Music]
Morning.
[Music]
and enjoying the downhill before we got
a lot of up.
So, you eat when you walk hills and then
you run down. It's easier to digest when
you're walking, even if it's a hill.
It's getting toasty, so I don't want to
get sunburnt.
All right, quick stop at the dinosaur
and then up the mountain.
This is my last stop in town.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
I was like, we're only going up the back
side of bar and then we're jumping off
and headed to camp bar camp. So, it's
not going to be too bad.
No, it's all about pace, huh?
That's right.
Have a good one, guys.
Have a good one.
Now the fun begins. There's about three
miles I'll run and then the rest is just
power hiking. So there'll be a lot of
people the first three miles because the
adjacent trail is the incline which is
one mile straight up the mountain.
Definitely a famous trail. Huge
attraction. They come back down on bar
trail. So everybody who did that I'll
see here for the first three miles. Then
after the first three, there'll just be
a couple of us.
Okay, so I just received one of the best
compliments I've ever gotten in my
entire life. I was just kind of jogging
up like this, ran past this lady. She
says,
"You must not be from Texas cuz you look
way too good." And that was mile one to
the trail. So she has no idea, but that
made my day.
Good work.
Thank you.
It's busy and it's hot, but it's nice.
[Applause]
Hit one of these nice stretches where
it's less inclined. Well, 5%.
But when you're doing 11, 15,
five feels downhill.
[Applause]
[Music]
Okay,
that's a split. So, probably a 90%
reduction in human beings. 22 and 1/2
miles cruising along. It's got that
dead
midm morning. Everything's still
no wind. It's rained recently and that's
like evaporating. So, it's humid in
here, which Colorado is normally not
humid, but feels humid. Like, I just won
some wind. Sure. Here in an hour or two,
it'll pick up. Keep cruising.
[Music]
[Music]
My favorite. Oh, mouth water.
There was snow just a couple days ago,
so it's nice and cold.
Amazing.
[Applause]
Okay, here's a good look at the top. So,
I can actually see the train now.
[Applause]
Getting some really good glimpse at the
top through the trees. We've got 7 miles
left. We're coming up on bar camp. I'm
going to stop since I haven't really sat
down yet. and filter some water
as well as eat a snack. And I'm on your
left here. Oh,
sorry.
Oh, you guys are good. Have a good time.
Thank you.
Absolutely. One of my favorite spots
because it levels out about 4 miles and
you can run a lot of this for the next
mile and a half.
[Music]
[Music]
How's it going?
Okay.
All right, leaving bar camp. We got six
more to go. So that's effectively like
kind of halfway
from the trail head to the top of the
mountain. I believe that's the last
water. So, I came up a bit. Got one and
a half liters in the back and then 350
milliliters up front. That was really
refreshing. Don't get me wrong, the last
6 milesi are not easy cuz we're going to
be above 10,000 ft in altitude.
Air gets thin. End of our adventure and
it's steep and half of it's above tree
line. So, if we can clock off some
20-minute miles, that'll be real good.
Let's enjoy the push to the summit.
[Music]
[Applause]
Good news and bad news. Good news is 3
miles to the top, making good progress.
Bad news, my legs are starting to get
tired. But I think this is exactly what
I want.
A nice
hourong power hike on tired legs. We're
getting up to the exposed area now. So,
I'll probably put my jacket on cuz it'll
be more windy and because the sun's
brutal up here. I'd rather be slightly
hot than get a bad sunburn cuz it's cool
enough. Don't feel the burn until you're
back home and it's way worse than you
expected.
You know what? Let's go a little cooler
out of that. We'll blind you.
[Music]
[Music]
I want you.
[Music]
Oh.
[Music]
Oh.
[Applause]
[Music]
Oh.
Oh,
[Music]
heat.
Go check that out. That's 30 miles.
[Music]
We did it. As far as finishing ultras
go,
this hell, it's got to be one of the
tougher last half marathons.
Hey guys, thanks for watching. I hope
you enjoyed this video. This is our
first video we've put out, which means
this is a brand new channel as well as a
brand new business. Me and Cali are
business partners in 55 Miles. What?
So, you're not going to tell them we're
married?
I do, don't I?
No.
What?
Listening in.
Well, as a brand new business, me and
Tyler are business partners in 55 lines.
And we're married. And what we do is we
help you with chafing and blister
prevention products. In the video, you
saw I was using the All Trail, which is
a anti-chafing blend that you take on
the trail with you, whether you're
hiking or running an ultra. And we even
put SPF in there. So, I use it as
sunscreen as well as on this trip, I
used it on my nipples and on my thighs
when they started rubbing. But beyond
that, we have like the toughest blister
prevention blend you could find, as well
as some allnatural blends that if you
just want to take the edge off a little
bit, those work great. I don't really
like to pitch products much. I'd rather
make content that's just enjoyable and
then at the end of the video let you
know what we have. And then if it's a
good decision for you guys, you can go
check it out. 55mm.com. That's the best
place to find us for the best prices. If
you want more videos like this, let us
know in the comments. Uh, I won't check
those, but Cali loves checking those and
communicating with you guys. Definitely
cranking out some more videos. And with
that, we are rooting for you. Can't wait
to see you guys soon. Have a great time
on the trails.
I am well
[Music]
[Music]
cruising.
Yeah.
You guys are good. Have a good time.
Yeah. Look, I'm in line with the stars.
I'm a sink with the earth. 10 toes deep.
Flower child from the turf. I never
switch sides. Like even when I die, I'm
a ride for the squad. Lot of ties in the
hearse. I've been on a vibe kind of hard
to describe. I'm in between. I'm good
and it's fine, but I'm tired of the
grind. Then I come alive in the night to
realize I'm in the middle with the time
of my life. I'm never so packed for the
stack. Never lied on the back. Got a bag
from the way that I ride it. Queen look
that I survived doing 80 to the house
then I hit it to the sky on a ty
be still let f we all the same we all
want a meal in the safe I want to live
for my lips feel big from the take a sip
till I pass out trying to get it don't
make sense
[Music]
not that good actually. Oh man, come on.
You're telling me I ran 9 hours with
that?
