Abrams Falls Trail - GSMNP

Hike style: out and back
Elevation gain: 423’
Max elevation: 1800’
Details:
Nice stroll through pine forest along Abrams Creek. Chance to see a variety of wildlife including black bears, deer, salamanders, and if you’re very lucky river otters.
Trailhead is located about a mile before the visitor center on the back side of the Cades Cove scenic loop road. Allow 3-4 hours for this hike. Outhouses are available at the trailhead - a rare luxury for trails in the Smokies. You will drive the entire 11 mile loop road in order to do this hike, so anticipate adding 2-3 hours to your trip for driving around the loop.
Best times to hike: Spring or Summer, any time after a lot of rain when the water level is up.
This is one of the most popular hikes in the park, so expect a lot of company, especially during summer. I would recommended going as early as possible.
