Jay hikes the THREE FALLS TRAIL at E.C Manning Park in BC. Hikers on this trail can enjoy three waterfalls along the way and even scramble down a slope to the base of the third waterfall.

Manning Park is located along highway 3 (the crowsnest highway) in British Columbia. It separates the Fraser Valley from the southern interior of BC with it’s Cascade Mountains and is a popular year-round destination for hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, and star gazing. With over 40 trails in the park, there is a trail for every ability ranging from gentle nature walks to multi-day treks.

THE TRAIL: The Three Falls Trail is an easy to moderate 9 km (5.6 miles) in and out trail with a 291 meter (955 foot) gain in elevation. The trail starts with a 1.8 km walk up an old fire-access road in an area called the Strawberry Flats (named for all of the wild strawberries that grow here in late July). The trail continues through meadows, forest, and talus slopes to the ski area where the Three Falls Trail then continues through forest to Shadow Falls, Nepopekum Falls, and the descent to Derek Falls.

GETTING THERE: The Trailhead to this hike is found 7.8 km up Gibson Pass Rd of Highway 3 at the Strawberry Flats. Parking is available here.
