Hi this is Josh with ResortTV1 and today we're at the Magic Kingdom and we're going to show
you all of the construction updates for January of 2019.
So we hope you enjoy the video.
And before we get to the updates inside the park, first of all let me remind you to subscribe
and hit that notification bell if you haven't already done so.
Also be sure to follow us on social media, we're ResortTV1 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
And again before we get to the inside the park updates, let's check out some things
going on outside the park that are related to the Tron construction.
So here we go.
Music
And back inside the park, it's really surprising how much has changed just since Christmas
here just in the last few weeks.
Attractions have closed both in December and in January and making things at the Magic
Kingdom quite a bit different.
So if you're planning a trip soon, be sure to watch the entire video so you know what
to expect.
One of the really special new offerings here, right here in the town square, is that they've
got some new characters that we don't normally see that you can do a meet and greet with.
So it's kind of cool to see people that you don't normally see.
And one of the biggest updates here at the Magic Kingdom is that the Walt Disney World
Railroad is closed for refurbishment and for the Tron construction.
So here at the Main Street Station, you can actually go up to where you would normally
board the train and take a look at the train itself.
So here it is here, the Roger E. Brogy, and actually, you can get all the way up to it,
take some great pictures, and just walk around and really get a lot closer than you normally
can because it's not operational right now.
And it's beautiful sitting here in front of the Magic Kingdom entrance here at Main Street
Station.
Here's the rest of the train here.
It's just parked here, looking awesome.
Here's the hopper car.
Beautiful artwork here.
You can even see inside of the engine itself, which is really cool.
And it's still an authentic steam train.
One of these days I'll have to do the steam train tour.
Very very amazing.
Some up close looks here at the different parts of the engine.
Pistons, wheels.
The Baldwin Locomotive Company.
Looks like May of 1925.
It's really amazing to get this close of a view of the train here.
You normally only get to look at it briefly while you're loading and unloading or while
it's whizzing on by, so this is pretty awesome.
And another thing they've got here in the train station is these tables.
These aren't normally here.
Maybe that's because there isn't as large of a crowd flow here since the train is not
operating.
But that train tour was really cool.
And they've got the engineers there you can talk to and ask questions about the different
aspects of the train itself.
So here we are in Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.
There's some huge changes here.
Looks like Bay 1 is not serving.
Sometimes that's the mobile order.
Bay 2 and 3 are completely slammed right now because it is lunchtime and it's a Saturday.
It's actually Martin Luther King Day weekend.
But the biggest update here is that the whole room with Sonny Eclipse is blocked off here.
The doors are sealed, the windows are covered, and so Sonny Eclipse is on a little bit of
a sabbatical right now.
He's on a break.
So, probably a well-deserved break, but still, one of my favorite things is to sit in there
and just listen to Sonny Eclipse.
The music is really great and it's just a lot of fun even though it's the same songs
on a loop.
I come here and listen to Sonny pretty much every time I can.
So, it is disappointing that that is down and I don't know how long it's down, but definitely
this is closed for refurbishment.
So I don't know if they're refurbishing Sonny, the dining area, or the entire thing.
But anyway, so that's a big update here at Cosmic Ray's.
And here we are over at the Fantasyland Station and of course you can see the...
Sorry folks, the Walt Disney World Railroad isn't taking passengers at this time.
I don't know why I just did that voice, but it seemed like it fits.
So Fantasyland Station is a ghost town right now and they're making preparations just beyond
those trees there for the Tron light cycles coaster.
And another big update right here by the barnstormer is that you cannot use this walkway that goes
over to Tomorrowland.
It's completely blocked off.
It's roped off here and it's walled off, I believe, on the other side.
You can still kind of see the Tron advertisement there.
Now programming it says.
And just beyond that you can see some construction vehicles and all kinds of things just beyond
the trees there.
Sorry about the wind noise.
Yeah, there you go, so you can see the construction is well underway.
And another huge update here in the Magic Kingdom also related to the Tron construction
is that the Tomorrowland Speedway is down for a couple years again while they complete
their Tron construction.
So it's a ghost town and it's very quiet over here.
Normally you can hear the roar of the engines and you can smell the gas and it's very quiet
right now.
You can't hear a thing other than the music and the crowd and you see the sign there.
It's not operating today and not for a long time.
So there you can see the empty queue.
And we'll go over here on the other side and we'll be able to see the cars, but it's just
really fascinating to see the queue empty because this queue is usually full all day
as you know.
There it is folks, an empty and quiet Speedway.
Kind of eerie.
I have to admit I don't miss the fumes though.
Here's another angle.
You can actually see all the cars parked there behind the wall and the rumor is they may
be going electric to fit with the Tron theme better, but that has not been confirmed.
So we are assuming they will be refurbished somehow, but right now they sit.
And here we are at the other side of the Speedway, still quiet.
And as I mentioned earlier, the pathway over to New Fantasy Land and the Storybook Circus
is blocked at this point right by the Tomorrowland Light and Power Company.
So it's unfortunate because that was one of my favorite little pathways, but I'm hoping
once Tron is reopened they will have some sort of pathway through there.
So we'll see.
And another big update here in the Tomorrowland Light and Power Company is that this used
to be the exit for Space Mountain right here, and now it's been moved down and actually
refurbished.
So the exit now is down here.
I'm not sure if that was just for logistical reasons or to get people to walk through more
of the shop, but I'll try.
So this is the new exit right here.
So another really big update here at the Magic Kingdom is that the Liberty Bell Riverboat
is back in operation.
It was down for, I think, almost a year, so we're really glad to have it back here in
operation and it's looking better than ever.
You can see the entrance and loading area for it.
Leaves about every half hour.
Looks like it's leaving right now.
And again, sorry about all the wind noise here.
It's a very windy day, but a great day for some updates here at the Magic Kingdom.
And we are definitely going to ride the riverboat later.
Not on this video, but on another video.
I'll be curious to see if anything on the boat itself has changed, but so great to have
it back.
And another update right here in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom is that Peter Pan's flight
is closed for refurbishment.
I don't think they're changing anything.
I think this is just a scheduled refurbishment of the ride, but it is one of the staple attractions
here in Fantasyland, and so it is definitely a big deal that it's closed and usually very
busy, so now people that are normally in line for this ride have to find something else.
So it makes all the other attractions here in Fantasyland and elsewhere in the park more
crowded.
So here we go.
We see Peter Pan will take flight again soon.
And we're here in the Columbia Harbor House, and another big update here at Disney World
— we'll wait for the screen to change again — is the Mickey Sipper Cup in honor of Mickey's
90th birthday that happened just this past fall.
And there it is.
It's the Mickey Sipper Cup, again in honor of Mickey's 90th birthday.
Well that's all for now for this Magic Kingdom update video for January of 2019, and today
by the way is January 20th, just in case you're wondering when this was filmed.
So we hope you enjoyed the video, hope it was helpful for you to see what's going on
here at the Magic Kingdom.
I know we missed a couple things.
The purple potion merchandise Jenna will cover in another video, so definitely look out for
that, and if we missed anything else let me know in the comments, sometimes I forget
a few things.
