Taylor Swift says she'll re-record her old albums | Live on GMA

It's a very special morning here in Central Park because the one and only Taylor Swift is here. This is insane. This is incredible. Wow. Thank you for doing this for us. This is amazing. Well, and you know what? I loved how you said thank you for doing this for us. That you weren't making it just for us. Oh yeah, we're having fun, right? Right, that it's not just about you. All the Grammys, all the music, and the new one is coming out tomorrow. We're just hours away from Lover. Hours away. And what I love is that it is already, y'all know this, it's already pre-sold almost 1 million copies. It could be certified platinum by this weekend. It's not even out yet, Taylor. Yeah, I mean, that's insane. As a worldwide number, that just shows how wonderful and supportive the fans have been. And I appreciate you guys so much for that. It's amazing. Now, we have heard a few lyrics. The lyrics, you know, they have been coming out slowly. Can you share any of the lyrics with us, Roman? Any of the lyrics? Just start quoting them like a poet. Like, I don't know, I think that would be a little... I mean, one thing about this album that's really special to me is that it's the first one that I will own of my work. Which is a concept that they're very supportive of. Right, right. You know, I was going to wait to ask you about that. But since you went there, this is something that is very important to you. And you've also said that you're planning on re-recording some of your music. Is that true? Are you going to do that? Yeah, that's true. And it's something that I'm very excited about doing. Because my contract says that starting November 2020, so next year, I can record albums 1 through 5 all over again. And you'll do that. I'm very excited about it. Why is this so important to you? Because I just think that artists deserve to own their work. I just feel very passionately about that. They do as well. So you'll be doing that soon. So soon you will be doing the re-recording. Yeah, it's next year. It's right around the corner. I'm going to be busy. I'm really excited. I love that you have the support. So thank you for sharing that. Thank you for sharing that. And you can tell how passionate you are about that. Lover, the single is said to be your most romantic song yet. All these Swifties have been pouring over trying to get some clues. So can you tell us the meaning behind Lover? Well, Lover is a song that I'm so proud of. I wrote it alone. The video comes out tonight, which is insane. And just being here on this release week with this album and everything. It's such a group effort. Everything that's fun about this week, I'm so stoked to have. The fans were here just camping out overnight. And the fact that I have to say thank you to my parents are here. Capital One, they're the people who put this on for us. And they sponsored a pop-up shop that we have going up all weekend in New York. So it's going to be a really fun week. And it's just so cool to be able to celebrate with everyone in New York. Well, it's great that not just your folks here. Your dad was actually handing out pizza overnight. My dad was handing out pizza. Yeah, yeah. And as a family, it blows our mind that people would want to do that. For my parents, they're like, that's my kid. People are waiting on the sidewalk to see her sing. It's really astonishing to us. And we can't wait. Monday night, the VMAs. The VMAs. I know. It's a Monday, baby. I'm very excited. You always bring it. So what can we expect? What can we expect with your performance? Well, I'm opening the show, so that's exciting. I don't know if I was supposed to say that. But you did. But I've done it now, so can't take it back. But I'm just so excited because, you know, the video for You Need to Calm Down, the video for Me, I wrote those treatments for those videos, so it's really exciting to be nominated. And the fans have been so wonderful. It's just all good. Working with my friends, working with people that I love so much, in the Calm Down video especially, seeing that get nominated was really a proud moment for me. It's such a phenomenal video. Love it, love it, love it. Now, because this little one out front, she was singing me. She knew every single lyric, every single word. Yeah, you guys are really good at knowing the words. So do you have one that is special to you? Do you have one, I mean, they're all your babies, but do you have one that's special in your heart? I think every lyric on the song Lover is, I'm really proud of that song. Like, that song is like, that song's like a cozy, warm blanket for me. Like, I'm really proud of that one. So I just think lyrically, top to bottom, that song is the one that, of the things that people have heard so far, that's the one that I'm just like, ugh, ugh. Really proud of. And we're really proud of you. Thank you. Thank you, thank you for being here. Thank you for taking ownership. Thank you for what you're doing. And just an example that you can give the set. Thank you. Oh, I think she's going to be performing coming up right after this. You guys want it. You know, we want to tell you, Lover is out tomorrow. Lover is out tomorrow.
