Long Range Archery Challenge.. Tim Connor X MFJJ
It was at this very moment the editor, that's me,
wondered will they subscribe to the YouTube channel.
I am quite literally about to fly my drone through a bow at full draw.
More to come on that.
Look at this.
Doing a little spring cleaning today and how many is too many?
Hey buddy.
Flipper knife.
Anyway, we're going to head to the range here.
It's going to be a great day.
And the only thing I need to echo is the best offense is a good defense.
Let's get in the vehicle.
Let's get to the range.
Let's go find the man, the myth.
And we're going to have a great day.
Journalists, it's kind of like their first gig.
But it's like if you read an article.
All right, Josh, let's walk and talk.
I hope so.
I told the boys the best offense is a good defense.
So you can expect.
You can expect a lot of smack talk today.
That's the only defense I got.
We're going to do a little long range challenge.
Popping balloons, the fun stuff.
We're going to do four shots, increasing yardage.
Every time we go to the next yardage, it's worth another point.
So first shot's worth one point.
Last shot will be worth four points.
The person that popped the last balloon.
The other person goes first on the next balloon.
Most points at the end is declared the winner.
If there's somehow a tie and I haven't run away with it by then,
we'll do one arrow closest to the center.
How far are we shooting?
Well, that's part of the fun.
Hang out.
We're going to, we're going to send bombs.
You don't ever tell me anything.
That's bullshit.
Yeah, it's part of the fun.
It's, I gotta just try to scheme every advantage I can get.
Yeah, my sight tape doesn't go this far.
Something tells me it's going to be farther.
No, it'll be reasonable.
It'll be a shot you can make.
What'd I get myself into, Tim?
Oh, look at that thing.
Dang, son.
Still a few more things to bolt back together in this little girl.
Nice and gentle.
Slow and steady wins the race.
75 yards, you said?
Yeah.
Yep, right there's 75.
This might be the last we've seen of fun, Josh.
I'll try to remain pot.
Just don't get ahead and it'll be fine.
Yeah, throw that out there.
How about we flip this.
If it lands on this, I shoot first.
If it lands on this, you shoot first.
Fine.
You can toss it.
Yeah, you're the stick or I'm the plain orange.
Ready?
Okay.
Hey, bottle never lies, folks.
See, it knew it was fair.
Like the guy who shot an arrow first.
That's what I'm saying.
So the guy's been shooting for the last hour straight.
This is Josh Jones, Spokane Valley Archery.
75 yards, yeah?
75.
Big orange balloon.
What kind of release we shooting, man?
Just stand.
Stanley?
One.
All right, all right, all right.
I'll go put a balloon on.
That was my concern.
What yardage are you going to?
That was my concern.
Okay, so from here we go 100 is the next one.
Okay, now that was worth one point.
So the next one's worth two points and then three points, then four points.
So maybe that did work that way for a reason.
I don't know.
Well, here, you can.
Whatever you want.
Use your judgment.
Go down there.
Okay, you happy with that?
Yeah.
Yeah, it's bigger than your head.
Is it bigger than your head, though?
I don't know.
It's kind of big.
According to the comments, my head's really big.
He's a child.
100 yards.
God, I just got a hint.
If he gets to go first, this is worth two points.
I just got a hint of nerves.
Did you now?
Yeah, I did.
I'm not going to start talking ----.
You can talk ---- all you want.
You got to get ahead of me and then I'll start talking ----.
Hundo.
Hundy spot.
We're two points, Timmy.
Two points.
I think that was nice, but left.
Just a touch left.
All right, I'll take a look.
Check it out.
That was a good shot.
It's always more important to make a good shot than to hit what you're aiming at.
Your head's in the right spot.
That's some kind of wisdom or something.
It is, actually.
The day you accept that making a good shot is more important than hitting the middle
of the target is the day you stop moving around so much.
Because you're not trying to move the pin around anymore.
Sounds like something I'd tell my golf students.
Well, you are a golf pro.
And I do this for a living, so I guess that makes me an archery pro.
One hundy.
Tell them about the conditions, dude.
A little bit of humidity.
Oh, it's a beautiful day today.
Break it down.
Break it down for them.
It's a beautiful day today.
I mean, it's a little humid in general, man.
There's not a breeze of wind.
Everything's calm as can be.
We got lots of daylight.
So, you know, if this turns into a ---- show, we got time.
Tell them about your release real quick.
This is a Stan Axis.
Trying a couple of different releases that are open hook, that are still handhelds, but
still wrist straps.
Because I want to be able to load and fire faster.
And I don't want to have to have a pouch or something to put it in or latch it on.
So I'm trying to find more of like a hybrid style release option.
Three different ones I'm playing with right now.
And I think there's two more coming.
And I'll do a full breakdown on all of them when I get all of them on my channel.
All right, here we go.
Tim is going to try to distract me now.
Oh, I think I hit right.
Oh, I got a touch of grace, folks.
Oh man, that was good though.
Is that a quick click or is that a...
I don't have a target sight, man.
There's a hunting bow.
I don't have a target bow put together yet.
You're the one with the target bow playing against the guy with the hunting bow.
Let's not forget that.
I'm going to use that.
Door's wide open, Timmy.
Just walk through it, man.
I see the light.
A little bit right.
Just remember, if we're ever doing golf ----, you got to like give me all kinds of extra
advantages.
Yeah, well, I'll give you lots of grace.
That's it.
Oh man, I swear that was it.
That was tracing, dude.
I don't know where it went.
It's touching the left side at like eight o'clock.
By my first one?
Like way closer than your first one, Tim.
Way closer.
Like I don't know how that didn't break.
Way closer.
All right.
Got the jitters out, hopefully.
God, that was a great shot.
I'm so pissed.
He's editing and I dick up.
He's definitely going to show you.
There's no way.
Now, if he screws up, he can just clip, clip.
It's out.
Just a little snip, snip.
Just a little snip, snip and it's like it never happened.
But oh, I screw up.
Where did that hit?
I don't know.
I'm staring at you and staring at the camera.
I was watching that trace.
I get those camera comments.
So I'm trying really hard to be a good cameraman.
I was watching that trace and I was like, oh, dude, that's,
I was just looking to give you that smug ass look like,
oh yeah, look at that, Josh.
Look at me, look at those two points, son.
What's our next distance after this?
We'll find out after this one.
You got bigger balloons than this for future reference?
We got nothing but time.
Deep breath.
Josh Jones.
Hundy spot.
That's just left.
That was low.
Are you sure?
Yeah.
How'd you see that?
Yeah, I can see that one low.
Oh, wow.
It's the exact same amount left as the other one too.
I'm starting to be concerned about my left to right a little bit.
But pressure on, all of a sudden you get all nervous.
Start questioning everything instead of trusting what you're doing.
You smacked an arrow.
I'm pretty sure.
I heard a flap like you hit an arrow.
I'm just watching it launch and it looks so good.
Yeah.
I did not expect the balloon to survive this long.
Neither did I.
Getting a little embarrassed here.
I got two arrows like this against the side of that balloon.
All of my arrows are left.
You got an allen wrench?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm moving my sight left.
I stay strapped.
Against the side of the balloon and then that one that went low.
All of them are the exact same left to right.
We'll call that touching tips.
Touching tips.
A little two click, Rick.
Two click, Rick.
I thought you said we wouldn't need that many arrows.
Are you starting to question that?
It wasn't based on...
Guess we just drive back and go get the arrows.
It wasn't based on poor performance.
Did you see where that hit?
I think that was low.
I think that one might've been low.
I'm pretty sure it was low.
We're out here hunting green balloons.
It's green balloons, Susan.
That's it.
Oh, how did I not hit that?
That was perfect.
What the hell?
I think it dropped low.
Yep.
Left to right's better, but it's low.
God, I went off too quick.
Oh, I thought I had it.
I saw I'm gonna put money that I had it.
It's just a little bit left.
Keep turning left.
Is this a hundred or 125?
This is a hundred.
Feels like it's 125.
How the...
Does that drop low?
I gotta look.
I don't know.
No, Tim.
I have three arrows like this on the left side of that balloon.
Well, I'm out of arrows.
Well, let me see if I can do the deed here.
Dude, I have to start holding off with a freaking balloon or something.
Oh God, a little breeze.
Little gust roams.
Oh my...
Dude, I watched that leave.
Where did that hit?
I don't know.
It looks so good.
You got a minute or two to figure it out.
That was heartbreaking.
You like couldn't be any closer without popping it.
One would assume you got pretty darn close on two of those, three.
All right, let me give you the golf announcer breakdown here.
We're in the second round.
Josh Jones is feeling a little bit of pressure.
The wind is slightly across four to five knots.
There's a little breeze now.
We got a little balloon bubble down there.
It's a nice overcast day.
A little bit of humidity affecting the helical of the arrow.
We got the Coriolis effect.
We got the ground under Josh's feet shaking a little bit.
And I'm not sure if he shaved today.
So I don't know if that's going to...
No, I did not shave today.
Okay, 100 yards.
Josh Jones, let her rip, tater chip.
There you go.
I held high and right.
That was a beautiful...
After I saw that group, I was like, I'm holding high and right.
That was a beautiful pop.
How far are we going back now?
The rules of the last minute?
We get to that point, yeah.
We get to that point.
The 120 is going to be worth seven.
Like little kids do.
They just keep changing the rules.
That was close.
I thought that was going to blow up.
No, I'm touch high left, like 11 o'clock.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, this would seal the deal.
Well, you'll notice my sight stops at 100.
Like I got nothing.
I'm guessing that's about 110.
That's a pretty educated guess though.
Well, you know.
It's a pretty educated guess.
I don't have any documentation to prove it's educated.
That's right.
No degree for that.
Nice, dude.
But we'll go back to 120.
We'll shoot it for fun.
That was good.
Good job.
Good shooting.
Just that 100 yarder gave us some trouble, huh?
That got me to realize how much I was off by and where.
Now you're calibrated.
Yeah, but I also can't move my sight down any farther.
So now I'm like Kentucky windaging ----.
I think I am too.
I don't think I can.
We're seven now, right?
Isn't that what we decided?
So we're seven?
The white was nice.
That was easy to see.
And the real Kentucky windage shall begin.
I can't move my sight anymore.
Now it's just the other pin and see how far off it is.
And I'm going up my bottom pin.
You want me on down?
Me too.
I'm going to have to.
I'm going to be downhill.
Bottom pin's not.
All right, folks.
120.
Modified rules.
Seven points.
Tim gets to empty his quiver.
Go!
As many shots as you can get off in two minutes.
All right, all right, all right.
We're both feeling it out here.
Yeah.
Call this soul in it.
Yeah, now it's fair.
120 bottom pin.
I always got to remind myself bottom pin.
Yeah.
That was money, dude.
That's awesome, dude.
Damn.
Could we have scripted it any different?
Look at that.
