I'm in Islip, New York, a town on Long Island's south shore.
The area has been a seafood destination
ever since the fishing industry set up shop here in 1640.
In 2009, Port Royal Grill became the latest chow down spot
to serve up the Great South Bay's freshest catch.
And I'm here for the biggest bounty of all,
the Davy Jones Locker Challenge.
A seven-pound feast of crab, shrimp, mussels,
clam strips, stuffed flounder, and sides.
Finish the whole thing in under an hour, and the meal's free,
and I win a picture on their Wall of Fame.
Will I chart a course for victory,
or will I be lost at sea?
Adam, this is a Davy Jones Locker Challenge.
It certainly is.
All right, you have one hour, starting now.
I start by attacking the challenge's
most labor-intensive item,
the two-pound pile of Alaskan snow crab.
Oh, I love this stuff.
You could throw it on Garlic Butter Collect.
Mmm. Mmm.
15 minutes in,
and I still have five pounds of food in front of me.
I don't know where he's going after this,
but he's got to pick it up a notch.
After I pluck the mussels from their shells
and rip the shrimp from their skewers,
there's nothing left to do but chow down.
20 minutes in, and I've only deep-sixed the snow crab.
Time to pick up the pace.
Come on, Adam! You can do it!
I simultaneously tackle the shrimp, mussels,
side salad, and vegetable medley.
I tear through the delicious mix of seafood and greens
in just five minutes...
Whoo!
...with a ferocious attack on the clam strips and coleslaw.
Adam! Adam! Adam!
All you have left is our stuffed flounder,
but this is the hardest part.
Oh, you know what they say.
When life hands you lemons and flounder, you make history!
I dig in to the first crab, scallop,
and shrimp-stuffed monolith.
He said fish!
But with six pounds down and only one to go,
I've come too far to raise the white flag.
Go, Andrew! Go, Andrew! Go, Andrew!
Feeding on fantastic flavor,
I duel the Davy Jones down to the last, brightest fish.
With only 12 minutes remaining for the second time ever,
the Davy Jones is sunk.
I'm in my hometown, Brooklyn, New York,
for a rematch with my first-ever spicy challenge,
the Suicide Six Wings at Buffalo Cantina.
But today, I'm back for seconds.
Refresh me on the rules, my friend.
Six suicidal wings, six minutes.
Okay.
This one's for pride, and this one's for me.
Battle is on.
Time for my rematch bout
with the Suicide Six Wing Challenge.
I take the first wing down in seconds,
but a spicy sucker punch stops me in my tracks.
Oh, no. It's happening again.
I don't know if I can make it past one wing.
Just watching him is making me sweat.
I mean, I don't know if he can do it.
This looks tough.
You have to keep the bite in your mouth for so long,
and that's when it burns you.
I am on fire.
My senses are reeling.
Even the roar of the crowd seems a million miles away.
Don't let me down, Adam!
Whoo!
There's so much meat.
Oh, it'd be better if they were less generous.
I can't go out like this again.
I dig deep, and I remember
Yankee pitcher Jabba Chamberlain's advice.
Basically, you wing it. You wing it.
You wing it. You wing it. You wing it.
Jabba's right.
Don't think. Just eat.
Adam! Adam! Come on, Adam!
Represent for New York, Adam. Come on. Let's go.
It's do-or-die time.
This bite is for Brooklyn.
I take down wing number two, and I am in the zone.
Adam, you can do it!
Feeling no pain,
I polish off the third and fourth wing.
Wing five bites the dust.
My revenge is within reach.
Keep the wing! Keep the wing!
It's like facing a batter in the bottom of the ninth inning.
You know, it's something you want to do,
and you're going to fight with everything you got.
You're a 14-pack!
Keep it going, baby!
You're a New Yorker!
Moment of reckoning.
The final wing.
Adam, shoot! Adam, shoot! Adam, shoot!
I call on my last reserve of strength.
Pick up the wing and demolish it in three huge mouthfuls.
You're officially beaten
the Buffalo Cantina six-wing suicidal challenge.
Revenge is sweet,
but today at Buffalo Cantina, it's also spicy.
The rematch of man versus suicide wings.
My hometown of Brooklyn, New York, man won.
Whoo!
I've traveled to Syracuse, New York,
on the shores of the Finger Lakes,
to take on the six-pound frittata challenge
at Mother's Cupboard on James Street.
The frittata challenge has been going strong for 30 years,
and in several thousand attempts, 95% have failed.
I'd like to report a UFO sighting.
Your frittata challenge, you have no time limit,
but now you have Mother's rules.
You have to sit up straight.
Yes, ma'am.
You have to eat everything on your plate.
Mm-hmm.
No elbows on the table.
Okay. Are you ready?
Mother, may I?
Yes, you may.
Oh!
The first bite is amazing,
but taking down a breakfast beast like this
is going to take some strategy.
You have to start moving it to a bowl.
It is so flippin' hot, like, temperature-wise hot.
So I'm gonna just, if I try to do it,
I have to let some of the steam out
so I can just sort of knock it all down.
By letting out the steam,
I'm able to hit it into high gear.
Yeah!
But as I down the first bowl,
I come to a harsh realization.
Oh!
I was deceiving myself.
I was working away so hard on this bowl.
I'm like, yeah, I'm almost at the bottom.
And then I realized it was just kind of like a sidecar
to the main...
It will not end. It will not end.
Yeah!
Almost there. I know he can do it.
20 minutes breeze by,
and I've already put down four of the six pounds of frittata.
Woo-hoo!
But my full belly has me neglecting my manners.
Adam, watch your posture. Sit up straight.
Yes, ma'am.
Go around the table.
You're at the toughest part now, but I know you can do it.
I know you can do it.
Thank you.
I pick up the last bite of this six-pound platter,
but I'm not sure if I can take it down.
Go, Ed! Go! Go, Ed! Go!
Go, Ed!
Most people see the battle of man versus food
as an issue of black or white.
But today, today's victory,
I see in shades of orange.
Yeah!
With just enough room for the last bite,
I took down the frittata challenge.
Today, I'll take home a T-shirt and one more victory for man.
I'm taking on the phal challenge,
the spiciest curry in America.
Thousands have tried it, but just over 100 have succeeded.
We have Sir Adam Richman in the house.
All right.
This is the most excruciatingly hot curry in the world.
Ooh, don't threaten me with a good time.
He has to clean the whole bowl, all right?
He gets a beer on the house,
a picture on the website,
and a certificate of completion.
Everybody, let's do it!
I dig in for my first bite,
but right off the bat, it's too hot to handle.
It's hot.
I feel it in my lips. I feel it in my mouth.
He's sweating a little bit.
His eyes are bulging.
There's so much of it, it's kind of unrelenting,
and it's beating me.
It's pretty freaking hot.
So I start mixing in some rice to cool the curry.
All the chicken is down.
Now comes the rough part. It's all the sauce.
I'm determined to finish the phal,
but then I make a truly painful mistake.
You know what? I just realized I did something very stupid.
The napkin I've been wiping my mouth with, I wiped my face.
My face is on fire right now, right here.
Man versus curry! Man versus curry!
Man versus curry!
I tame the incendiary ingredients
and reach my final bite.
Hey, he's got one more bite!
Whoo!
This last bite of rocket fuel,
I dedicate to all of you for your support.
And this is the most fiery of all curry challenges.
I salute you, I salute you, and I eat you.
I've defeated the phal challenge,
and my prize, an ice-cold Indian beer,
a curry certificate of completion...
And you guys spelled my name right.
...and the adoration of the masses.
