A Ride Through What We've Lost: Weeks Before This Entire Area Was Destroyed by the Oregon Wildfires

This is most likely some of the last footage of this area before it was completely devastated by the 2020 Oregon wildfires. In August, my daughter and I spent some time exploring McCoy OHV Area, near Detroit and Idanha Oregon. This beautiful section of the Mt. Jefferson wilderness features lush forest areas and beautiful views of Mt. Jefferson and the surrounding mountains and lakes. It's hard to believe this whole area is now gone, destroyed by the wildfires in Oregon that razed entire nearby towns over Labor Day weekend. This area in particular was destroyed by the Lionshead fire. It will be decades before this area recovers from the damage done by these wild fires in Oregon. On this day, I was riding my Suzuki DRZ400S and my 13-year-old daughter was on one of her first forays into the woods on my Honda CRF250L. We didn't know that this would be our last dual sport riding experience in this area for a long time, and the last time we'd ever see it looking so lush and beautiful.
