Motorcycle Road Trip Over the Snowy Mountains to Bend, Oregon to Visit ‪@GiantLoopMoto‬

I'm going on the longest road trip I've ever been on on a motorcycle. Beer acquired. Hotel, here we come. Those are our bikes soaking in the cool rain. We're here. We're at Giant Loop. I'm here with Harold, the owner. Got some street tacos. Try to find a back road ride back into Sisters. Get some dirt. Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the Dork Side. I'm the Dork in the Road. Today, I'm going on the longest road trip I've ever been on on a motorcycle, and I'm bringing Duck Fan with me. That's right, everyone. So Duck Fan and I are about to load up and head over the mountain to Bend because we are hoping to attend the Giant Loop garage sale tomorrow, and that is a sale they do every year where they sell all of their returns and slightly blemished items and everything at a very significant discount. So Duck Fan wants to check that out, and of course, I want to go and support our friends at Giant Loop, and we're going to ride our Africa Twins over. So it's Duck Fan's first long trip on his Africa Twin, the longest trip I've ever taken on a motorcycle, and we're going to stay overnight in Bend, hit up the garage sale in the morning, and then come home, maybe hit up a cool road or two on the way home. It's a beautiful, beautiful drive. It's about three hours from here. Thanks for coming on the trip, and I hope you enjoy the ride. All right, there he is. We're off! All right, deer acquired. Hotel, here we come. Okay, we are here. We made it. We're in Bend. We're at a motel because we're not camping tonight. We went to the campground that I tried to get a spot at, and it was like wall-to-wall, chock-full, ridiculous. Ride over was awesome. What do you think, Duck Fan? It was way more fun than driving over here in a truck. Way more fun. And we stopped at a local spot. I don't know if you could tell, but I'm not planning on doing keto this weekend, at Boneyard Beer, so recommend it. Picked up some, what are these, a Crowler? Crowler. Canned Crowler. And what is it? 32 ounces, so we got two each. They just banned all indoor dining again, so we're gonna order pizza, hang out in the hotel room, and drink beer. That's exciting. We got a room on the ground floor and right outside. There they are. Oop, wrong riding gear. That is a hoppy lager. I guess it doesn't surprise me. Cheers. We're gonna enjoy, order some food. My beard is destroyed. I gotta take a shower and fix this. This is raw, first thing in the morning beard. Not well-manicured beard that you normally see. It's morning. We drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of pizza, watched a lot of Rick and Morty, and then passed a lot of out. So we're gonna slowly, gradually get our stuff together and head on over to Giant Loop and check out what they've got to offer, but I'm wondering how the sail's gonna go, because take a look outside. These deals seriously are insane if you get a chance to come to the garage sale. This is a round the world pannier with the mounting plate. It's a little dirty, a little worse for wear, but 60 bucks. Definitely recommend the garage sale if you get a chance. What do you think, Duck Fan? Who knows what was here if we'd been on time. We had to stop at a bakery to get some stuff for Duck Fan's wife. And this pile was twice as big, at least in the videos I saw. So good smoking deals on really good quality gear. Oh, no, they're both lit. I might do that. Can't argue with the price. Yeah, well, thanks for coming over and joining us. It's awesome to finally meet you in person. It's nice that we're vaccinated too. We can like not even worry about masking up and stuff. But we started doing this annual garage sale a few years back. It's a great opportunity to just stoke the locals out with some deals on gear. And we love it. And it's a good way to just give things a second life. I've just always hated seeing stuff get thrown in a dumpster or whatever and end up in a landfill when there's still functional life left in it. Yeah, and it's no joke. Like the prices are insane. Like it's not like you go and it's 10% off. Definitely just picked up a Klamath bag for 60 bucks and it's like perfect shape. And that's going to look like about half price. It really is about what Harold's saying about like, he just wants to see this stuff get used. That might have been a display model or new old stock or something. And, you know, we just love seeing it get into people's hands, get used. Appreciate you taking us behind the scenes and giving us a chance to kind of look around back there. Dan kind of walked us around a little too. It's really great to finally get over here and see the operation. And I sincerely doubt it'll be the last time. Well, hopefully it's not the last time. Yeah, we need to go ride. Yeah, yeah, we do. We're going to go try to find a back road ride back into Sisters. Get some dirt. We are here in Sisters. Took the back road. Got some gorgeous footage and saw some gorgeous scenery. DuckFan got his first gravel in. It handled it like it was nothing. I was super impressed. It's even easier than our dual sports. It just glides over everything. Yeah, it does a bunch of the work for you. DuckFan inadvertently got about six inches of air, and I'm not exaggerating because I was right behind him, and I saw it going over. It was one of those drainage things, like a hump, and he's like, ha ha, going to get some air, and then he surprised himself because he got some air, bro. It was impressive. Sad that my camera was not rolling, but you got some footage of the route over, and we're going to put our earplugs in and head home back over the mountain.
