From waking up inside a volcano with an emerald green lake to an insanely beautiful beach in one day, this is El Salvador. A pretty small country but with a large amount of diversity in landscape. This country has it all and today was a perfect day. Including encounters with police but not in a way you would expect....
Oh man, those are the moments I just wish I could catch on camera and I don't think I really did.
But, um, two police officers who, I don't know, I guess they just come down and check out the school and the park.
They came over and chatted with me and I just had so much fun chatting with them.
We, like, cracked up laughing because of a word that I messed up and said wrong.
It was so funny and they were, like, so adorable and so kind and so lovely and I just enjoyed that interaction so much.
Good morning and welcome to vlog number 50.
First of all, vlog 50, that's a milestone.
And I don't want to bore you with this stuff but I do want to say that I feel proud.
50 is a lot of hours of creation.
And I've learned to let go of the outcome and just enjoy the process.
And I've realized that this is my absolute dream job.
So I couldn't be more happy to be doing what I'm doing.
Even if it isn't always so pretty.
I embrace it all and I'm just so happy to be here on YouTube.
Okay, second, it turns out that I did catch my small interactions with the policeman on camera.
I can't tell you how much I adore these conversations.
Many people regard small talk as kind of dreadful and purposeless.
My days are full of small talk.
But I think they are far from purposeless.
Because these little interactions are an experience of expressing with an open heart.
Which provides connection and companionship.
And for someone who lives on the road, these moments are cherished.
Especially when there's a genuine laugh involved.
What did I say?
Okay, saving.
With my tent open to so many beautiful stars.
I am going to leave this beautiful place and head to the coast.
That's the thing about El Salvador is they have so much in such a small area.
And in one day you could be high up in mountains, on a volcano, inside a volcano.
And the same day you get on the beach.
So I'm going to go check out this beach area kind of in the south of El Salvador.
Here we go.
Wow, there's a volcano.
Right in front of the dog.
Can the camera see it?
Wow, it looks so cool.
There it is.
There's the volcano. Look at it.
Wow.
It's so crazy the colors.
It's like a light sand on the top.
There it is.
I'm going to pull over.
Yes.
Also, El Salvador, if you didn't know, is pretty small.
Smaller than the state of Massachusetts or four times smaller than Portugal.
We'll see more of it later, but the fact that you can see such a wide range of landscape in one day in this country is pretty incredible.
Like today, from inside a volcano to the beach.
All right.
We're here. We're here in El Cuco.
I just want to explore the town.
It's very small, so I'm just going to take a little jaunt.
A simple one.
It's over there.
Okay, thank you very much.
Welcome to La Verde.
How are you?
Good, thank you.
Are you from here?
Yes, I just want to check the prices for a room.
90? Okay, thank you.
Hello, how are you?
Good, thank you.
Do you have a room?
Oh my God, there's a pelican right here in this restaurant and he's so stinking cute.
It looks like he's being shot.
It turns out some of the hotels here are kind of expensive.
But I found this place, which is an old abandoned restaurant that allows you to camp.
And for me, it couldn't be more perfect.
Landed and this place is incredible.
Tent here, got a roof over my head and beach right here and breeze from the beach.
And it looks like there is like little snack shacks over here.
So, got my bathing suit on.
Of course, I'm hot and sweaty from the ride.
All my batteries to my GoPro are dead.
I'm on my cell phone.
And I'm going to let my stuff charge and maybe go get something to eat and then go swimming.
My bike is here parked under this place.
So, this place is like an old restaurant, I guess.
It's like an abandoned old restaurant, but they allow you to camp.
And I put my tent upstairs.
Nobody's here except the security person at the entrance.
And then the beach is right here.
So, I'm going to walk over to the beach and over to those shacks and see if there's anything to eat.
I'm going to eat here.
Okay, battery a little bit charged.
Now the sun is going down.
It's really, really gorgeous.
It looks like the tide is out.
And it's not so hot anymore, so I less feel like jumping in the water.
But I'm still going to go out there.
Take a little dip.
It's so nice right now.
Oh my god.
This is a really nice beach because the tide goes out super far.
Oh my god, it's beautiful.
It's such a beautiful spot.
I'm completely in love.
There's something about this beach that is so lovely.
It's so swimmable.
There are so many picturesque...
I can't even tell you.
The way that the water is like...
There's just a thin layer of water and the sun is reflecting on it.
And there's a bunch of people playing on the beach.
This is just such a good spot.
Such a good camping spot.
I'm paying $10 a night to camp.
Very little facilities, but it's delightful.
I had a taste of democracy.
And I felt, I felt safe.
East to the west and south to the north.
We're living in peace.
Oh my god.
I just thought I fell something on my leg.
Okay, my battery keeps turning off.
It's like 30%, but it keeps saying low battery and turning off.
GoPro does this, I don't know why.
But I think I might end the vlog here.
Thank you so much.
It's been a great day.
And goodnight.
Or maybe I'll say goodnight at my tent because it's just such a good spot.
All nations we're growing.
All nations is too strong.
Smiles of understanding.
Between one another.
Politics and music.
Belong to the people again.
Equal rights.
Freedom amongst.
All shapes and colors.
