This is a very rare liquid-powered iron, made in Germany in the late 19th century, came into my hands thanks to a friend whose family once owned it.
I was fascinated by its ingenious mechanism: it runs on liquid fuel that heats the metal base – no electricity, just pure fire.

This unique iron piece was in poor condition, very rust, so I carefully examined every part before restoration. Some elements were missing or damaged during disassembly, so I recreated them from scratch: the valve knob, custom screws, and clamp – all made using a lathe. I also sandblasted the rust, hand-polished the metal, and restored the wooden handle.

Beyond the complexity of the restoration itself, the most amazing part was the final test – heating the iron by burning alcohol and actually using it to press fabric. Watching it come back to life with real flames was truly satisfying.

This project was completed at the end of last year, but I’ve remade the video, adding key steps I hadn’t shown before – now with improved filming and editing.
