Trying (and Failing) to Ride My Honda Africa Twin Off Road. Forest Road Gates Suck!
All I wanted to do was find a place to ride my Honda Africa Twin off road that is reasonably close to my house. After some Google Maps research, I set out on a scouting mission trying to discover if there was a way to ride my Honda Africa Twin into the Santiam State Forest in Oregon. Unfortunately, all I found was locked forest gates and dead end roads on private property. Weyerhauser Corporation has blocked off all access to the off road riding I was trying to investigate. This Africa Twin dual sport adventure was a total fail, but the ride wasn't a total loss. We at least got to check out the Larwood Bridge, Larwood Wayside, and the Hoffman Covered Bridge, as well as some awesome Oregon backroads. I also got in a successful first road test of my Giant Loop Mototrekk Panniers and Pannier Mounts. All in all, not the worst possible way to spend an evening, even if it turned out to be something of an Africa Twin fail.
