Hey there everyone, my name is Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video we are going to be thrifting our fall decor and I think that this is a really fun
approach because a lot of the things at the thrift store just have like that vintagey warm feel to
them so they'll really help create an autumnal atmosphere in your space and I do have like those
tried and true like newer staples that I use year after year. Maybe sometimes I'll pick up a new
item or two so that video is already out if you missed that. Those are like my fall decor staples
and I showed you how I style those but this video is going to be more shopping for those like cozy
secondhand pieces that will help bring warmth and life and character to your home. So first we're
going to head off to the thrift stores and we'll do a little shop with me where I show you some of
the pieces that will really help to elevate your fall decor and give it a cozier look and I'll
share some styling ideas and decorating tips and then we'll come back home and I'll show you
everything that I found for my own space and how I'm planning to style it for fall. So hope you all
enjoy and without further ado let's go thrifting! Okay so here we are at the thrift store and right
now they have a bunch of these fall sections and to be honest it can be a bit overwhelming
and just look like a bunch of junk but I promise we're gonna sift through it and find the good
stuff and one thing that I'm constantly seeing a lot of at my thrift stores are these never open
pine cone bags. These are only a couple of dollars and they make for a great natural bowl filler just
to pop on somewhere like a coffee table. They also look great with dried oranges and cinnamon
sticks mixed in too for a more varied look. They can also carry you into the holiday season as well
so definitely something to keep an eye out for and something else that I spotted were these stunning
silver gourds and I just picture these styled on a casual fall tablescape. I love how simple
they are and they kind of give off that vintagey feel with the beautiful silver finish and they
were a little pricey in my opinion at $14 each but definitely one of those pieces that would make
a statement in a space and I love that they were a different shape other than a pumpkin just a
little bit more unique with that vertical gourd silhouette. Another thing that I see quite often
are these beautiful woven storage boxes and I actually have some that I found at thrift stores
back in North Carolina and I just love to layer these on side tables, shelves, console tables,
things like that. They just add a really beautiful natural warmth and texture which is perfect for
fall decorating and another piece that would add in that vintage natural warmth was this old world
style broomstick and this could just be propped next to a fireplace or styled on a front porch
and Pottery Barn actually sells a similar one with fairy lights on the broom portion so that guy's
over $150 and that could be a really easy thing to just add to this one and in my opinion fall decor
feels more elevated when you use natural pieces so I just love the idea of using these natural
gourds in fall decor. You could layer some together in a basket for that gathered feel
or you could just lay them throughout a tablescape to add some dimension and a subtle pop of natural
color and I love that you could snag all of these for $6.50. I also spotted this really cute picture
frame. This totally gave me haunted mansion vibes and you could actually use this year round but you
could simply just print out a skeleton photo and pop it in there for Halloween or maybe even a
vintage pumpkin patch image for more of that cozy feel and something that's great for fall styling
as well as the holidays and even year round are candle operas and this unique iron one was only
$7.50 and this could be so beautiful to style on a console table to help add some height to the
styling and it just gives off a very romantic cozy feel which is perfect for fall and the holidays
and this one definitely gave off more of a haunted mansion vibe. Styling this with some cheesecloth
or faux cobwebs would be really fun if your family gets super into Halloween and a big reason that I
love shopping at secondhand stores is just to find those items that are unique and are a fun
conversation piece and I absolutely adored these sweet little jack-o'-lantern luminaries. They were
made out of clay which I love again because it's a natural material and they also had some newer
ghost ones as well but I was really drawn to the jack-o'-lantern ones just because they were
actually handmade. You could even see the little clay remnants where the eyes and mouth had been
cut out by hand which I just thought was so special and unique. Another affordable styling
piece was this black crow and actually Anthropologie and Crate and Barrel sell similar figural crows
and this guy was only $1.50 which is amazing. He'd be so cute just styled on a mantle or a shelf for
that creepy October feel. And this next piece really caught my eye because I actually own it.
It is this beautiful woven pumpkin luminary and I actually got mine at HomeGoods several years ago
and I love the glowy warmth that it gives off when I put a little battery-operated candle inside
and again I just love decorating with woven materials because of how natural and earthy it
looks. It feels festive because it's a pumpkin shape but it feels elevated and classy because
it's an earthy material with a really beautiful natural texture. And something else that I've been
seeing a ton of in the fall section at thrift stores lately are figural pumpkin candles and
they sell these at Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma so they definitely have a more high-end look to
them and they are very discounted here but I will say that a lot of them are already like half burned
so you could just finish up the candle and either DIY a new candle or you could just use it as a
little container or a styling piece. But I just love adding these into little vignettes during the autumn
season for easy and effortless styling. And another piece that I loved were these little leaf plates
and they had different colors here and it might be nice for a little catch-all in an entryway,
just somewhere to put your keys or your mail. You could also use them just to serve some fall
treats on if you're entertaining and they were such a steal at only $1.50 each. I also always
like to keep an eye out for faux pumpkins that I can use outdoors to create that layered look on a
front doorstep and I love the realistic coloring on this one. Not really sure though what was going
on with the texture but it would probably look okay layered in with some other pumpkins. And I
also liked this squash shaped one. The key to layering is to have different colors and shapes
so I loved that this would add a nice shape variation to a group of pumpkins. Now a lot of
times when I'm shopping for the fall season or just the holidays, I'll stray away from the themed
fall or holiday section and just peruse the regular aisles looking for items that fit into
my color scheme that I'm decorating with. So I came across this super sweet little mauve floral
accent pillow and this was hand stitched and it was only $2.50 and this would add such a nice
little pop of color and a botanical print for fall. I also spotted this little pumpkin vase with
florals and I wasn't a big fan of the florals but I would totally buy this just for the little
pumpkin vase portion. I actually did a DIY last year of something similar where I made a little
succulent arrangement inside of a faux pumpkin and I loved how that turned out so this would look
cute with something similar like a little cacti or succulent planted in it. I also really loved
these little amber tea lights and tea lights can literally just be popped anywhere to give a space
such a romantic magical feel and I mean you can simply layer them on somewhere like a kitchen
countertop to make things feel more special. I loved that you could really just weave these
into any room to give off that subtle autumnal feel. I also loved this chocolate brown linen
tablecloth for creating a fall tablescape for only $5.50. Okay so now we're back home from
the thrift stores and I'm going to show you a little haul of all of the things that I found
for fall. So the first thing I was so excited to see and you guys this was such a good price
it is this really beautiful kind of like rustic magnolia leaf wreath with pine cones and I believe
these are chestnuts this guy was $4.49 which I could not believe and honestly I thought that
this looked very lifelike. I liked kind of the dusty almost like aging dried out style of these
magnolia leaves they kind of have like a little dusty coating on them and they kind of have like
a little bit of a brown hue which I really love I think that's so perfect for fall and also you
guys know I'm a big fan of anything with a pine cone detail. I just think that it adds that rustic
element it adds a beautiful texture and it looks really natural and just like forged from the yard
so that's why I love pine cones I love mixing them into my decor for Christmas as well. I could even
just stick a couple holiday evergreen picks in here and this would like totally transition to
Christmas and what I think I'm going to do with this is just hang this on our front door here in
the Phoenix area they do like a goodwill 50% off day every couple of months so I went and I found
this gorgeous chiffon like fabric and it was an insane amount of fabric I don't even know how many
yards were in this thing like it was huge and I think it was like six bucks so I got it for three
dollars so what I'm going to do is just take a little tiny piece of that fabric and rip it off
and then create a ribbon with that and I love the way that chiffon like fabric rips and just has
that beautiful frayed edge and I love those beautiful frayed chiffon ribbons I use those all
of the time in my holiday decorating as well you can get them on Amazon if you can't find like a
cheap chiffon fabric but I figured it would just be a really easy way to use what I have to kind
of dress up this wreath and give it more of a designer look makes it feel a little bit more
feminine adds a beautiful touch of like a soft textile so just a simple bow element really can
elevate your wreaths if you have a bunch already around your home just buying a little chiffon
ribbon can really take it to the next level okay so something that you could almost always find at
the thrift store that will like pretty much guarantee to elevate your space for the fall
season are baskets and these are so great because they add a really beautiful woven warmth to a
space they're really cozy they can double as storage and they're almost always available at
thrift stores for super cheap prices there's a variety of textures and washes and styles so I
found this really beautiful kind of like a medium toned basket and this guy was such a find because
this one is really well made and it was only five dollars and fifty cents and what's funny is this
actually has a little sticker on here from an antique booth so they were originally asking
thirty five dollars at an antique booth for this and I paid five dollars and fifty cents this is
a really beautiful kind of like vintage-y style basket which is personally what I look for when I
source my baskets I also just like that the tone of the woven wasn't too dark wasn't too light
wasn't too yellow wasn't too gray it was just kind of like right in the middle so it will go
with a lot of my decor and what I'm actually planning to use this for kind of has a little
bit of a funny story but if you guys are unfamiliar with the Arizona weather it is very very hot here
so we are unable unfortunately really to kind of like grow hydrangeas here at our last house in
North Carolina I planted hydrangeas like all over the house and I loved it when they were in bloom
they were so beautiful and I'm really mad at myself honestly that I didn't clip a couple and
just dry them out so I could use them in my decor because I've just had this vision for so long now
to incorporate dried hydrangeas into my fall decorating so recently it actually worked out to
where we went on vacation to visit some family in Wisconsin and it's so funny because I said to
Mike before we left I was like all right I have been on the hunt for dried hydrangeas so if we
see any while we're there at like a decor store or an antique shop like I have to get them I will
bring them back on the plane because sometimes you have to call stuff like that out beforehand
because sometimes if you get there and then you say oh my gosh I've been looking for these forever
like Mike will be like uh-huh not really but you kind of know what I mean like you just got to like
state your intention so you're like if you see them I've really been looking for them so
actually when we went to Wisconsin all the hydrangeas were in bloom like it was so beautiful
it was so funny because we went to this little shop it was super cute and right outside on their
picket fence their sign said free hydrangeas so they had cut some down and they had bundled them
up and you could just take them home and I was like oh my gosh this feels very meant to be it
was so funny and I just said to Mike I was like I'll just dry them here on the trip upside down
and then hopefully I can bring them home on the plane and that's what I did so they're a little
rough they're shedding a little bit just because we were going from like place to place when we
were there and they were in and out of the backpack and in and out of the car and then I
had to take them on the plane so they are shedding a little bit I'm hoping I can spray them with
hairspray to you know keep them a little bit more preserved but I thought that they would just look
so cute popped in this basket I just really like that rustic European feel that it has and it kind
of feels effortless when you style them into a space and also they're real so you're bringing a
real floral stem inside which is kind of nice it gives off that lifelike feel and the texture on
them is so pretty and when they're dried out the coloring is so beautiful especially for fall
decorating I love how subtle it is but it's still like a little touch of like that earthy brown
mixed with some greens and it's just so funny when those things work out I feel like I look at my
decor and I appreciate it so much more just because of like the intention behind it and how everything
worked out so anyway yes a very good find on the basket I love that I was able to get the hydrangeas
for free okay so next I probably sound like a broken record saying this but something that I
always love to incorporate into both my fall and holiday decorating is amber glass I love the way
it looks when light shines through it it just adds a really beautiful warmth to a space and it's also
a fun material to kind of break up the other things that I have in my space I have a lot of
I have a lot of wood leather stone natural materials so I like that the glass kind of
contrasts that and it's another natural material that adds a little bit of personality with like
that amber hue and it's just really warm and beautiful so I love decorating with pieces that
have amber glass when it comes to the holidays so when I saw this next piece I was like oh my gosh
I need that it is this really pretty kind of like hammered amber glass pumpkin now when I originally
saw this in the store it had kind of like this candle holder in it with some leaves on it and
I debated about that for a little bit but I actually thought that I liked it a lot better
without that little gold leaf detail but the only problem was there was like a big melted candle in
the bottom welcome to Arizona so what I actually did was I utilized the fact that we live in Arizona
and I just set it out on our patio for like 10 minutes and the wax already started melting so I
just took a knife and then I cut it all around it so that I could remove that so once I could get
rid of that little like gold leafy piece then I was left with this really pretty kind of just like
hammered amber glass pumpkin vase and there's so many things I can do with this I can honestly
just use this as a vase fill it with water and add some beautiful fall florals in here
but what I think I'm probably going to do is just use it as a decor piece and add some little fairy
lights inside I just love the look of fairy lights inside of amber glass it looks extra
glowy when the glass is amber and just gives off that beautiful warm hue that's perfect for fall
and I love the texture on this it looks like something that you'd find at anthropology or
pottery barn and that is something too is like when you're thrifting just always think outside
of the box is there something that could be changed about the color if I removed part of
this piece maybe would it look a little bit more elevated sometimes you kind of have to use your
imagination but there's a lot of really good pieces with great potential for great prices
okay so this next thing I think it's just like one of my personal obsessions and I'm really not
sure why but when it comes to the holidays I love incorporating beaded decor so you know a lot of
times they have like those beaded fruit pieces like I have those beaded cranberries that I use
over and over in my holiday decorating and I don't know why but I just love the look of them
I honestly can't tell you why usually I can tell you why like it's a material thing or it's a
contrast thing or it's like a height and variation size thing or whatever I don't know why but I just
love the look of them maybe it stems from when I was a child I was one of four girls and we all
like decorated the Christmas tree obviously and you know there's always some competition as to
who's gonna hang what ornament and we had this really pretty kind of like beaded apple ornament
and I was just always drawn to it there wasn't really a lot of competition because I was the
only one who like loved it for some reason but I always wanted to hang that one on the tree so I
would always you know be looking through all the like tissue paper and all of the ornaments and
like making sure I got to hang that one so I found this group of little mini beaded fruit and this
guy was four dollars and 50 cents not all beaded fruit is created equal let me tell you so first
of all it has to have kind of like an earthy realistic color to it like if these were like a
bright orange or bright red or bright green like I wouldn't want them I just like that they look
natural but they have that really pretty kind of like beaded almost sparkly texture almost look
dewy I don't really know why again I like it so much but I just thought these were so unique and
cute and they are actually ornaments so I can hang these on like a little mini tree but what
I think I'm going to just use them for for the fall at least is for a little bowl filler just
popped in a little bowl I think that these would just make such a unique little statement make
everything feel a little bit more warm a little bit more autumnal and like holiday like and I
don't know I just thought they were so unique and cute and I do see beaded fruit at the thrift
stores quite often but this was the first time that I saw where like majority of the bag was
the colors that I wanted so a lot of times they'll be like a bright red or a bright green and there's
like an earthy realistic looking colored piece or two of fruit in the bag but it's not worth the
price for me to just buy the whole bag and take like the two pieces out so this was the first
bag I saw where I liked that it was all of those really beautiful kind of like earthy moody colors
in there okay so as you guys know I'm a big fan of those little pieces that you can just pop next
to decor that you already have to make your space feel a little bit more seasonal but you don't have
to buy a whole bunch of new decor you don't have to clear out your space it's just really easy and
effortless to pop those seasonal pieces next to pieces that you already have to give it kind of a
different look so I found this really cute kind of like fluted glass acorn and the lid comes off
this guy was only $2.50 so I figured this would be really cute just to pop a little battery
operated candle in and it could give like a nice glow to somewhere like a coffee table or next to
decor that I already have styled on a console table or a shelf just really simple but still
beautiful and elevated and it gives off that like more expensive designer feel just really simple
and I like that it's an acorn because I think that acorns can even translate over into the holiday
season as well I'm always trying to think about storage and all that so I'm like okay if it can
double for both seasons then it's really worth the investment you know and the investment in this case
is $2.50 so I figured it was a really good deal and just kind of like a fun piece to have and
that I can use in a lot of different ways okay so every year in every home that I've ever lived in
when I do my fall decorating I love to layer faux pumpkins on the porch and even if they're faux
I like them to have more of a realistic look to them just because it kind of creates that
like beautiful layered heirloom pumpkin effortlessly styled feel out there especially
when you mix it with florals specifically mums I think mums look so good styled with a little stack
of pumpkins and that's something that's so easy to do you can do that even if you have like a very
small entryway just like literally a doorstep with a doormat just create a really beautiful
subtle layered feel that's very welcoming and warm and perfect for fall so here at this new
home we do have quite a large entryway so I figured I'd kind of start the collection and
start picking out the pumpkins that I saw that had a realistic look to them that have that heirloom
pumpkin feel so I can eventually have a really large like layered look with a bunch of pumpkins
by my front door so I got this one for $3.50 this one for $3.50 I got this little bag of three of
them for $3.50 and then I got this cute little white one for $2.50 so as you can see all grouped
together they do kind of have like a nice look to them I might paint this one I'm not sure I really
like the white and the green look I think that it looks really natural and earthy but I do kind of
want to have some orange pumpkins in there so this is a good one because it's kind of like in between
a cream and an orange which I like I like the stem on this I think the stem looks very realistic
and I've said that in past videos too is pay attention to the stem on your faux pumpkin
because a lot of times that can like be a dead giveaway that it's faux and if the stem looks
a little bit more realistic then typically the pumpkin will not always but that's something I
pay attention to but what I think I'm going to do for now honestly is I'm just going to use these
in that little basket with the dried hydrangeas because I don't have a ton yet and I think it
would look kind of small on our large doorstep so until I collect more or I get some more real ones
I think for now I'm just going to style these in that basket and that will look so cute and
collected and layered and natural but you could simply just go to the thrift store get a bunch
of woven baskets for super cheap get a bunch of these faux pumpkins and then you could create a
really pretty kind of like layered look with a bunch of the baskets filled with these maybe by
a front doorstep or in front of a mantle or you know if you have a place like in your entryway
that you want to style like that definitely a good find with these ones all right everyone
that about wraps up this fall thrift video if you guys enjoyed it please don't forget to give this
