Kinas roll i den globala säkerheten stod i fokus när Tysklands utrikesminister Johann Wadephul mötte sin japanske motsvarighet i Tokyo.
Samtalen den 18 augusti berörde territoriella tvister i Indo-Stillahavsområdet och Pekings fortsatta stöd till Rysslands krig i Ukraina.
Wadephul förklarade varför detta inte bara är en fråga för Asien, utan även för Europa.

He also emphasized that Germany and Japan share security concerns in the Indo-Pacific,
especially when it comes to tensions in the Taiwan Strait as well as the South and East China Sea.
As an answer, China warned Germany to, as it expressed, incite confrontation or increase tensions.
Despite ongoing territorial disputes, China says the situation in the East and South China Sea is generally stable.
The Japanese and German foreign ministers also discussed broader global issues,
from the war in Ukraine to the concerns in the Middle East.
The two countries have come to an agreement on a continued close cooperation.
