Another 3I ATLAS UPDATE! Scientist says “40% Chance 3I ATLAS Is Alien Probe”, Stranger than Oumuamua
“If we identify on this lobe scale identify a technological object that is close to 10, there needs to be a discussion between policy makers and the scientist about how to respond to it. And the response just imagine a visitor to your backyard.
Professor Avi Loeb — the man who once made waves by claiming that ‘Oumuamua could be alien technology — is back in the spotlight. This time, the main character is 3I/ATLAS, the third known interstellar visitor to our Solar System, appearing just a few years after ‘Oumuamua. According to Loeb, the possibility that 3I/ATLAS is an artificial creation of an extraterrestrial civilization cannot be ruled out. Of course, such a bold claim has immediately sparked pushback from many scientists, who insist that 3I/ATLAS is simply an ancient comet from the far reaches of the cosmos. But no matter which side you’re on, one thing is undeniable — we are witnessing one of the most intense and fascinating scientific debates ever over the origin of an object from beyond our Solar System. And until we gather more — a lot more — observations, no one can say for sure what the truth really is.

While the counterarguments rage on, Professor Avi Loeb remains steadfast in his belief that 3I/ATLAS could be alien technology. He even published a paper posing a bold question: Should We Message 3I/ATLAS?
Of course, that’s assuming it truly is a technological machine — because any reply we receive could instantly confirm or shatter his suspicions.
Based on its calculated trajectory, launching a probe from Earth right now to intercept 3I/ATLAS before it reaches perihelion on October 29, 2025, is utterly impossible. That’s because its retrograde motion will hit a staggering 98 km/s relative to Earth — many times faster than the quickest rocket humanity has ever built.
Yet, even at that dizzying speed, it’s still about 3,000 times slower than light. This means that instead of chasing it with a spacecraft, we could reach it… with beams of radio signals. And that opens the door to the tantalizing prospect of a “secret meeting” between humanity and a visitor from the deepest reaches of the galaxy.

But of course, that comes with two questions that could make anyone pause. First: Does 3I/ATLAS actually harbor an intelligence capable of understanding our message and replying? Second — and far more concerning — if it is an alien intelligence, would it perceive our artificial signal as a threat and respond negatively… perhaps even with an attack on Earth?
In fact, humanity has tried something like this once before. Back in November 1974, the Arecibo radio telescope sent an interstellar message toward the globular star cluster Messier 13 — located 22,200 light-years away. At that distance, we would have to wait tens of thousands of years for any reply, far too long for any potential danger to be a concern. But if 3I/ATLAS is indeed an alien probe, the time it would take to “visit” Earth wouldn’t be measured in millennia… but in just a few months.
