Good morning everybody, it's Debbie with the Pick and Coop Farmstead
and yes, I'm wearing a sweatshirt. It's only 61 degrees out in the garden. Today is Saturday
morning and I kind of wanted to clarify something. I did put up a video the other day
that I had saw on a couple of different sites. I usually use three and if they all say the same
thing, then I tend to believe that it is valid information. It was on trimming brussel sprouts
and I had two of my viewers, and thank you for your comments by the way,
saying that they didn't really see any evidence of trimming brussel sprouts to help. Now when I
first started trimming the lower leaves on my brussel sprouts, I was only doing the brown
nasty leaves, you know, and then I saw three different videos and that said that yes,
it does help. You just every once in a while kind of trim up from the bottom and it helps the
the brussel sprouts mature. So I thought I would share that information with everybody and of
course I did not attach my sources there. So a nice gentleman the other day was saying that he
tried it with and without and he said he didn't see any evidence of trimming that it really helped
with the maturity of the sprouts. So I thought well and he wanted to know where my sources were.
So I went back and I looked them up and I attached three different ones and they were all reputable
people. So I think I only have like three brussel sprout plants and I think I'm just going to keep
trimming them and because I am planting them again in my fall garden, keep trimming them and
and help because I was going to retract that information and I thought well no there's enough
information out there that supports that it does help. So do your own research, do your own judgment,
maybe just trim one up and don't trim the rest and see how that works out for you. I only have
three plants so I'm going to go ahead and keep trimming mine up as they get taller and see how
that goes. So anywho and keep your comments coming. That's how I learn, that's how we all learn.
So thank you very much you guys. All right so we're out in the garden let's see what we can find.
All right so I picked all my zinnias that were bloomed out. We're supposed to get rain this
evening so I thought well instead of these getting ruined I might as well put them in a vase.
I got some dill and of course calendula and I did get a few little sprigs of they're buried in here
holy basil and then I picked a little handful of these little they're Oregon spring tomatoes
starting to turn red. I didn't want to take the chance of them splitting because I don't think
we're going to get that much rain but you never know. All right so that's about all I have for
you today. It's a short video everything's looking really good out here. I do think however that my
cauliflower is going to seed but that's okay I can just save the seeds from those. I mean
there's always something that you can do you know with your plants. So that's all I have for you
today. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you're happy, healthy, safe. I hope the sun is
shining where you are. If not I hope you're getting just the right amount of rain hopefully
and again God bless you all and thank you so much. Have a great day.
Happy gardening. We'll see you next time. Bye-bye.
