Join us on a father/daughter Honda CRF250L/Honda CRF110F dual sport adventure in the forest! My 12 year old daughter and I head out to explore the forest on our dual sport motorcycle and dirt bike. Along the way, we find several forest waterfalls, ride in the snow, run into a subscriber in the wild, and find a plethora of epic forest views along the way. There's nothing better than sharing my love of the outdoors with my daughter, and the best way to do it is riding our motorcycles off road. Lil' Dork's off road riding skills are improving rapidly. I let her lead the way on this off road motorcycle adventure and she took on deep mud, snow riding, a very steep, technical rocky hill climb, and more with perseverance and determination. I love teaching my daughter how to ride and watching her apply her new skills and grow in off road riding confidence. Riding with her is one of the best parts of being a dad.
I feel like the people probably want to see insides.
Yeah, look at us gaining altitude.
Oh dang!
That was deep!
I'm not moving, kid.
I suppose if you want to risk it.
There you go.
Good call on this road.
Well done, kid.
Hello everyone.
Welcome back to the dork side.
It is I, the dork, in my cold driveway.
Thank you for coming along on yet another of my imperfect adventures.
Today, Lil Dork and I are going to go out and ride in the woods and see what we can see.
It's a father-daughter adventure.
Thanks for coming along.
Let's get loaded up.
Getting ready to take off and head out to the woods.
Lil Dork's having a little bit of a hysteria fit because I made a really funny joke.
Really funny.
Plan is to get out into the woods, obviously.
Ride motorcycles, obviously.
We're going to go where I went last week and got super wet.
But instead, head out where you probably saw the Africa Twin.
First ride on the Africa Twin video.
I think we're going to go out and explore that area a little bit because I didn't really
get into the side roads much that day.
But I know there's some cool ones out there.
We're going to head out that way.
Lil Dork, are you excited?
Yes.
I'm the Dork of the Road and I want to be your internet riding buddy.
So please don't hesitate to subscribe and don't forget to turn on those notifications
so that you don't miss out on future dual sport and adventure content just like this.
I'm all about those imperfect adventures.
So me and Lil Dork are going to get out there.
We're going to explore the forest.
Hopefully see some beautiful views and have a heck of a time.
Thanks for coming along, guys.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
You ready to go?
Yes.
Let's roll.
Hey, guys.
So random, crazy, random happenstance.
Lil Dork and I are unloading and Cory pulls up on his R1200GS and recognizes my bike.
So here we are.
This is actually my first time I've ever been recognized in the wild.
So that's awesome.
So you're headed up to check out the same area today.
That's awesome.
Just doing some exploring.
Great day for it.
It's cold, but clear, which is awesome.
Awesome, man.
It's good to meet you.
Good to meet you, too.
Good ride, for sure.
We'll see you in the comments.
Yeah.
Everybody say hi to Cory in the comments.
Hi.
That's awesome, dude.
Lil Dork just noticed that there's a shack over here that, even though we've been here
before, she never noticed.
So she wants to look at it.
So she's going to go inside and get abducted by the creepy hillbilly that lives in there.
A grizzly bear is going to come out and eat her.
Are you going to go in there?
She's got her key in case she needs to defend herself.
Look at those frogs.
There's a ton of them down by the river.
You want to move up here?
This will be your first apartment when you move out of the house?
I feel like the people probably want to see insides.
All right, good people.
Here you go.
There's the grand tour.
Pretty awesome.
Did we come here to ride or look at weird, scary shacks?
Both.
Hey, hey, hey.
Nice.
All right, Lil Dork.
You ready to be in charge today?
Your bike is very muddy.
It's the muddiest it's been.
Even your silly no-clutchness.
Oh, you're throwing mud everywhere.
Your tires are meaty.
Anyway, Lil Dork wanted to see the couch, the infamous couch.
So here it is.
Does it meet your expectations, Lil Dork?
Yeah.
Is it everything you dreamed of and more?
It's pretty gross, huh?
I wish people would not just dump their crap, but whatever.
You want to try this hill climb?
Here she goes, up the hill.
It's her first time.
I saw that.
Oh, doing it.
Crushing it.
Look at you go.
You're good.
You're getting good.
Don't stop in front of me.
I'll hit you.
We're going to keep up going up here a ways and then we'll turn right eventually, but
it'll be really obvious.
Don't turn right before that because you'll go into the river.
So it's been...
How long has it been since you rode, Lil Dork?
Has it been since that time we went with your grandpa?
At least a month, maybe two.
That was...
Oh, that was like...
It's been two, because that was like...
I don't know.
New Year's Day or something.
As you can see, she's very much outgrown this 110, so we've begun the process of negotiating
that we're going to upgrade her, but she's still not sure about learning the clutch,
but she's going to have to, because it's the only way to get a bigger bike, unless we get
her a reckless clutch, which we're not going to do.
Look at you hauling ass.
Damn.
Just be careful around the corners.
Pretty crazy, everybody.
That's the first time I've ever encountered a subscriber in the wild, and it's funny because
he didn't recognize me, he recognized my bike, and he's up here riding in the exact
same place.
It's pretty cool.
So nice to meet you, Cory.
She's riding significantly faster.
It's actually making my dad reflex kick in.
I'm a little scared.
I don't know.
I don't want you to go craning off the cliff.
That's not my favorite.
So this is the bluff where I film all of it, where I film the review videos and the drone
footage videos.
It's fun, but Lil Dork's never actually ridden up to the top of it.
Oh, we're real close to the snow line.
Look at that.
Awesome.
So the GoPro flattens its way out, but this hill is fairly steep and a little rocky.
Man, seriously, we are right at the snow line.
Crazy.
Well, it gives you a good view of the side over here.
It's pretty.
Yeah, look at us gaining altitude.
Over to this side so you can see a little better, but I do want to watch the road and
not the view.
So sorry, guys.
Look at...
Yeah, the snow...
We're literally even with the snow line.
If you look over there right now...
Whoa.
It's trying to eat ----, apparently.
Almost fell down.
That would've been funny.
The problem is we get the sunshine on the camera like this, it makes it hard to see,
but the snow line is literally just right above us.
It was snowing up here yesterday, I think, so there's frosted snow just right, just slightly
higher than us.
Don't go off the cliff, okay?
I promise.
I don't like it when you go off the cliff.
It's my least favorite.
Whoa, I crushed it.
It's pretty.
Very pretty.
Very steep.
There's an eagle flying down there.
I'm trying to hold my head level so you can see how steep it is.
Pretty steep.
We're taking it easy.
Just crushing it.
It's getting good, you guys.
Just gaining a lot of confidence, which is honestly the most important thing when you're
riding off-road.
Confidence and momentum will get you through a lot of things.
All right, let's keep going up.
Still technically winter, but it doesn't look like it.
It feels like spring.
Pretty, though.
This is beautiful scenery right here.
And then we'll just get into the trees, and you'll see nothing but trees and waterfalls
for the next 10 miles.
Say what you will about clear cuts, but they at least make it a lot easier to see the rest
of the scenery.
I mean, you could go stand by it if you wanted to.
I don't mind if Duck Fan hurts himself, but I'd rather you didn't.
Cool waterfall, though.
It goes all the way up.
I'm always told I don't stop and look at the scenery long enough on camera, so I'm going
to give it half a second.
You guys have seen this waterfall, like, in three videos in a row, though.
It's still cool.
I still stop every time.
You want to do a little side road jump right here?
Just up there.
You can see that waterfall again up above, and then there's a campsite at the end.
It's not too bad.
We're going to go up this little side road and check out that same waterfall up above.
There's another part of it.
Little Dork's never seen it, so I'm going to show it to her.
Just a short up.
It is pretty steep at the very top around the corner, so you're just going to have to
hit it and go, okay?
Getting water on my face.
A mud hole right here.
Just trying to get footage of you, but I need to turn sideways to do that.
So it's just the one kind of super steep part.
I'll tell you when we get there, but the rest of it's pretty like this.
It's kind of like Endor in here.
Forest of Endor.
Very Endory.
All right.
This is the funky corner, so there's just a little bumpy right here is all, but it's
not bad.
You good?
All right.
It's not bad.
It's just worse than anything we've seen so far.
I got some snow on the ground right here.
Here she comes.
Snow.
Got some snow.
I knew we were going to hit a little.
We're right below that snow line.
Right below that snow line.
I become Australian when I ride.
I become a terrible facsimile of an Australian because I cannot do that accent.
A little side road adventure.
There's a cool campsite down here.
Duck Fan and I found like two years ago.
There it is.
Pretty cool kid.
Pretty cool.
I don't know how many people get to see this.
Not many because who rides up this stupid side road?
Only us.
Only crazy people like us.
It's pretty.
It has a rainbow.
This is the same waterfall so if you can see it goes down here and then we're in a big
canyon so it all goes down to the creek at the bottom.
Which is why they call it Canyon Creek.
But we can go down to the campsite and turn around.
It's just right around the corner.
I think it's just tree water.
It's the snow actually melting off the trees.
That's what you're seeing.
Yeah, you're getting muddy today.
Oh!
He almost got me.
Headed back down to the main road.
Fun little detour.
A little dork is trying to ride off a cliff so that's good.
I almost missed it.
If you're going to ride off a cliff at least have the courtesy to do it on camera.
You got this kid.
Oop.
Just use your rear.
Rear is your friend.
Yeah.
You're taking a good line too.
Good job.
Perfect line.
He didn't hit any of the funky stuff.
Right down the middle.
That was real good.
You gotta look ahead.
Look as far ahead as you can.
Don't look right in front of your tire.
We're going to get this muddy action.
Oh, dang.
That was deep.
You got some deep mud there.
How was that?
He definitely hit it hard.
That was good.
That would be a good slow-mo replay.
Oh, Marty.
Oh, dang.
Oh, snow.
Lots of snow.
Fun.
We always have good snow luck when you're with me.
Oh, I'm down to two bars of fuel.
Only I had some way to remedy that.
Oh, wait.
I do.
What's that?
Rocks, she says.
This place rocks.
Yeah, they're logging up here.
They're building the roads up.
Harvesting some rock.
That's what this quarry's for.
So, you know.
That's fun.
You can stop on the bridge and look at the water if you want.
There's two bridges too, so you can stop and look at the water twice.
Fun times.
What do you think?
It's a neat-looking fishing spot.
I want to go on this left and see where this road goes.
Is that cool?
I've never been up there, but I wanted to check it out last time, but I didn't with
the twin.
But it looks like it goes up.
Let's go look.
Oh, there's lots of equipment over there.
We may not even be able to get through over there.
So, I don't know where this goes.
Just FYI.
There's a little Vista for us.
Yeah.
Neat.
Good call, us.
We're going to get to ride it.
Oh, wow.
Cool.
Look, I'm way back there.
Yeah.
Awesome.
I should have come up here on the twin that day, but it wouldn't have looked like this
because it wasn't snowy.
It's a little rocky.
I bet it loops around back there because the road is up there too.
Let's see.
This is getting good.
This is what I love about these bikes.
It's like, where does that go?
I don't know.
We can go find out.
And it's awesome.
This is a cool spot.
Cool spot.
Yeah.
I bet if you go off to the left here, there's something to see.
But the road on the right.
Let's keep going up to the right.
We can hit this up on the way back if we want.
Oh, yeah.
And it looks like there's a tree across it anyway.
Look at this view, though.
Look at this.
This is not nothing.
Are you guys riding up this way?
Yeah.
Let's see where it goes.
I'll probably follow you up.
All right.
Well, I'm impressed how well you're handling that thing on this road.
Hey.
If any practice.
Yeah.
I mean, you will get there.
I'll practice, for sure.
When we ran into Cory in the woods, he's going to follow us up this little road a little
bit.
I'm impressed with how he's handling that 1200 up here.
I mean, it's not too slippery, but I'm not there yet with the Africa Twin, that's for
sure.
I feel a lot better on this thing.
How are you feeling, little dork?
Good.
But we found this is a pretty neat little up with some cool views, it looks like.
Yeah.
Good job.
You're going that way?
Okay.
I'm just following you, I guess.
I mean, up is good.
This is fun.
I'm proud of you.
This is not a simple ride, like getting up into the snow and stuff.
What's this?
Oh, there's a campsite.
Huh.
Okay.
A little quarry.
There you go.
Get a little sideways.
It's fun.
Whoa.
I'm getting a little sideways too.
Not on purpose.
Man, we are going up.
Look at that.
Beautiful.
Wow.
You're doing so good, kid.
Are you having fun?
Cool.
Man, I'm impressed with that little 110.
It does well.
Man, you're crushing it right now.
I'm impressed with you.
You're better in the snow than I was my first time.
Keep going up, huh?
This is what...
I am not telling her where to go.
Little dork is just picking our path right now.
She's just fearlessly climbing.
If it gets too deep, let's slow down, all right?
Fortunately...
Oh, fortunately, it's pretty fresh, so it's not super icy underneath.
Yeah.
How you doing?
You had enough?
Okay.
Oh, I'm going down the hill now.
Yeah, you might have been smart because I'm not moving, kid.
You're moving.
I'm not...
There we go.
I got some traction back.
I think I was in a big mud hole.
Oh, right there.
I see it.
Yeah?
What do you think?
This is a good spot for a picture.
Why don't we stop?
I don't know.
Hopefully, that guy's okay.
So, we're going to stop.
It's getting a little snowy for little dork, and honestly, for me, it's a little steep.
I got kind of stuck down there, but he must have turned around back there.
I would have.
He's right there.
Holy hell.
Yeah.
I hope he's okay.
I just want him to be okay.
I'm worried about him.
Yeah.
It looks like he's turning around.
We are going to turn around here and just head back down, but we're up here in the snow.
It's fun.
Oh.
I got that on camera.
It's a Karate Kid action.
So, sorry, Cory.
We weren't trying to ditch you.
We just had to keep going when we hit that sketchy snow part.
I hope we get back down okay.
What are you?
A snow angel?
Yes.
You're a wonderful angel.
You've always been my angel.
Yeah.
That's what happens when you sit in the snow.
This is hard holding the helmet.
I should probably be wearing it.
How's this for a cool shot, you guys?
It's pristine right here.
Beautiful.
So, let me show you the surroundings.
Little dork tries to stay out of the camera.
It's hard to see, but this is a great spot.
This is a pretty steep downhill, and this is a pretty steep uphill, so.
I've got this thing.
I haven't actually refueled with it yet, so I want to do that and maybe talk about it
a little bit.
I'm not trying to be like a giant, giant loop shill, a giant loop shill, necessarily.
I'm really just trying to promote the contest, so I want you guys to know that you can win
one of these.
You can also win the handlebar bag over there on Little Dork's bike.
Just go to the video, the contest video on my channel, enter, and you can win yourself
one of these.
$150 value.
It's a really great prize, so thanks again to Giant Loop for sponsoring us.
You just put it in the tank, I assume, like so, and pour gas.
Oh, yeah.
Here, get a shot of it coming in.
This is super easy.
I've got my finger caught in it.
Whoa, ----.
I don't recommend that.
What you do is you keep your hand on the spout.
So I'm an idiot and spilled the gas everywhere, but that's not the bag's fault.
So I'm going to take this off and just stick it in my saddlebag.
Ta-da.
Little Dork's ready.
We're going to go down and hit a few more side roads, I think.
Okay, that's probably important that you throw it.
All right, rock thrown.
Check that off the list.
I'm worried we weren't going to get that done today, so good job.
It smells like gas.
It's almost like I spilled a bunch.
All right, snow, we'll see you again soon, or not, because it's spring.
You got this.
Just use your rear, okay?
Slow and steady.
It's not very steep, so you're going to be okay.
And while the nice thing is the momentum of being going downhill will carry you over them
most of the time, and this deep snow is just right here, and then we're back into the piddly
stuff.
A super branch?
I suppose that's possible.
This is where I got stuck off the side.
I just couldn't get any traction.
Oh, yeah.
This is mud right there.
No wonder.
Super loamy.
Yeah, well, that was probably smart.
He was on a 1200 GS, so that's a big bike for the snow.
But he made it this far.
That's impressive.
Nice riding, man.
I hope to be that good on my twin someday.
Be that confident.
You're doing great.
Yeah, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there that have never ridden a motorcycle
in the snow.
You've done it like three times this year.
I wonder if there's a good campsite up here, obviously in the spring or summer, maybe not
so much in the winter.
Cool rock face.
Cool scenery.
Just like that, we're out of the sketchy stuff.
Yeah, it's beautiful, though.
Cool snow.
It's fun hanging out with your kid.
That's pretty deep snow right there.
Oh, wow.
Cool.
Look at that.
This cliff edge is a little sketch, but it's pretty.
We're right up in it.
Cool, right?
So cool.
So, again, say what you will about clear cuts.
Yeah, we should stop and look around.
Sure gets you some cool views.
I'm going to stop down here on the end.
On top of the world, kid.
There you go, everybody.
Yep.
Yeah, it looks like we could get out on that ridge.
Oh, the snowy mountain in front of us is really cool.
Yeah, it's kind of hidden up in the clouds.
That's neat.
There you go.
More views.
More.
Pretty snowy hillside.
The left takes us across another bridge, and we can see what they're doing down there,
but it looks like they're doing a lot of work, so I don't know if the road's going to be
open that I want.
We can go see.
Let me just go to the bridge.
We can look from the bridge.
We may not get where I want to get.
Man, that's like a gravel crusher.
Yeah, I mean, it's not really for us, but I suppose if you want to risk it.
It's awful convenient when you have a little girl that needs to pee, though.
Yeah, I mean, it's pretty convenient.
I hope it's not illegal.
Sorry, logging company.
Appreciate your help.
We're not going to vandalize it.
We promise.
Just use it for its purpose.
This is not what I expected that we'd be doing today, but awfully convenient.
Asking, you shall receive.
So I didn't realize they crushed the gravel themselves.
That makes a lot of sense.
So they dig it out of this hillside, the rocks, and put them in that machine and crush it.
The gate's open.
We're good.
This is where I was in the Africa Twin video.
Take this right.
So far, we're just riding through a clear cut.
Oh, that's a lot of water.
Oh, you are very muddy.
Yeah, that was an interesting choice you made.
Oh, well, this is no good.
It's a campsite, though.
You are very muddy.
My turn.
Right here or the one over there?
I don't know which one that was.
My kid is trying to get me all wet.
We're going to take this road up here on the right.
The one that goes up into the clear cut.
Just out here doing an explore.
Having fun.
Yeah, it just goes into that little copse of trees, I think.
This hillside is pretty.
If we find a spot to stop up here, we should look at it.
Not ugly.
Awesome.
I don't know where this road goes, but we're going to find out.
I got a little jump there.
Alright, well, we're going to turn around because this is the end of the road.
We'll go back and take the last turn we didn't take.
There it is. Parkour.
I got a little off the front, on the front end.
Not too much.
Need a little more speed, probably.
We're going to try this little road, even though I'm really sure it doesn't go anywhere.
Yeah, it goes into this little tiny copse of trees.
There she goes again.
That's her new favorite thing.
Nice view.
Let's greet the tree branch with your face.
It splits?
Okay.
That's not a road.
It actually is an old one, looks like, but this way makes more sense.
Found a jump again.
Just take it easy.
Don't hit the big rocks.
I'll go first.
I mean, it's a little soft, but if you go to the left right here.
Just be careful.
Don't hit the big rocks because that's what makes you flip over.
Actually, this stuff will feel a lot better when you get a bigger bike with bigger tires.
Good job.
This probably doesn't go anywhere.
This will be the end.
Oh, we did all that for nothing. Cool.
Well, then just pull over there and put your tire on it and then just ease it over.
But faster is much easier because it'll just roll over.
See?
Nothing.
That one's not big.
I wouldn't make you do a hard one.
See, you got this.
You're learning.
You're getting better.
Wow, I'm glad we decided to take a chance on that side road.
I was not expecting this.
There's a little stream.
I'm going to stop and look at it.
A little stream.
That's cool.
There you go.
See, now you don't mind riding over stuff.
It's easier, huh?
Wow, this has been cleared not too long ago.
That one would have been hard to get over.
I feel like, aw, man.
That sucks, bro.
We're not going to get through all that.
Okay.
That's too bad.
I was enjoying this little road.
Do it.
Hit it.
Hey.
See?
No big deal.
You got it.
Hard part's over.
Oh, you're good.
Good job.
You handled that well.
Real well.
Okay.
Can you rock it up like you're doing?
Hey, you're almost there.
There you go.
You got it.
Oh, you're so close.
Okay.
Here's what you can do.
Just get off.
Just use the gas and just walk it up.
So you can push it a little.
All right.
There you go.
Yeah.
Not great traction.
You're fine.
You're doing good.
This is all learning.
I'll come help you if you get super frustrated, okay?
You let me know when you get there.
You all right?
Yeah.
Okay.
Do you need me to help or no?
I really think you might be better off sitting on it.
Get a little weight on that tire.
You have no traction is the problem.
And as far back as you can.
You got to get it situated on that back tire.
Oh, oh.
You're okay.
There you go.
You got it, kid.
Yeah, you're out of the crappy part now.
You're golden.
Good work.
I'm super proud of you.
Good work.
High five me.
Proud of you.
Got out all by yourself.
It's good skills to learn.
You did so good.
Got yourself into trouble.
Got yourself out.
That's how we do it.
It's pretty.
It's up to you.
I'm following you.
No camping.
I don't plan on camping, do you?
Not on purpose.
Let's hope that's not necessary.
Looks like we're headed to another clear cut.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, bud.
She's going up, she is.
Wow, cool, dude.
Good call on this road.
Well done, kid.
What do you think about this scenery?
See that over there?
That's the hillside we were on.
Now we're on the other side of the valley.
Not bad, kid.
Not bad.
I'll give you a panorama before I take my helmet off.
A little windy, yeah.
Amazing.
Okay, well, we stopped, took a little break, enjoyed the scenery.
And now we're going to get back on the bikes and head back toward the truck.
But I've had a great time riding with you today, kid.
Super fun.
Thanks for coming with me.
And you can lead the way down.
Pretty gorgeous.
Not ugly.
Good call on this road, kid.
There you are.
I know, I say look at the scenery, but here it is.
All right, everyone.
Well, thank you for coming along on our imperfect exploration adventure.
Lil Dork and I in the woods, checking out some snowy areas and exploring some abandoned roads.
