It's Embarrassing! Blue Origin Failed To Launch Rocket Again While SpaceX...
Big news from Blue Origin, New Glenn’s highly anticipated second launch isn’t happening this August… It’s now set for September 29th! But can they really pull it off, or are we in for yet another delay? This mission, dubbed Never Tell Me The Odds, isn’t just about heading to space; it’s aiming to send two spacecraft all the way to Mars, while also proving they can land and recover the booster after last time’s failure. With just weeks left on the clock, the pressure is on, the pad is getting busy, and the race to make history is heating up. Let’s break down the mission, the challenges, and what’s at stake for Blue Origin right now.
All in today's Techmap episode!

In June, Blue Origin’s CEO, Dave Limp, announced that the second launch of the New Glenn rocket was scheduled for August 15. He also shared that the team had completed a successful hot-fire test of the rocket’s second-stage engine back in April, a big milestone for the program.
This next mission, titled “Never Tell Me The Odds,” carries a major objective: landing and recovering the booster, something the company wasn’t able to pull off during its first attempt earlier this year.
But while excitement is building, there’s also plenty of doubt about whether that August date is realistic. A mid-August launch feels like a tight squeeze for Blue Origin, especially in light of some troubling internal reports. According to Ars Technica, the date may have been set more to satisfy Jeff Bezos than because the rocket will be ready.

Progress has been slower than hoped, and the company is already on track to miss its ambitious target of eight launches in 2024.
Adding to the uncertainty, Ars Technica also revealed the sudden departure of Jarrett Jones, the senior vice president overseeing the New Glenn program. His exit came just after news broke about the rocket’s sluggish pace, sparking speculation that it might be tied to Bezos’ dissatisfaction with the project.
