Same pitching matchup we saw that weekend series in Arizona.
Bradley Blaylock and Eduardo Rodriguez.
Bradley Blaylock enters a game looking for his second win this year.
He's one and three, 7.89 earned run average.
That last start at Arizona opposite Rodriguez, five earned runs and four and two-thirds.
He walked three and struck out four.
A 10-pitch walk to Geraldo Perdomo.
That is classic Perdomo.
And now there is one on and nobody out for Cattell Marte.
1-1, reached for and popped up into shallow center.
It is Doyle who is coming in and he'll make the catch.
Not a long look in for the sign from Goodman.
There goes Jerry. He's off and running.
And that's ball four to Corbin Carroll.
Second walk in the inning for Blaylock and they got something cooking here.
Chance for Gurriel in the cleanup spot.
And now there are two men on base for Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
on a couple of first inning walks by Blaylock.
Gurriel gets it in the air. This is headed to right center field.
It's carrying. It's on its way. And it's gone.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. makes a 3-0 out of the game.
The cleanup hitter cleaning up.
It's a three-run shot for the Diamondbacks.
For Lourdes, it's his 15th.
And the Diamondbacks jump out in front nice and early.
It's 3-0 stakes.
Make it 12 straight games the Diamondbacks have scored
within the first three innings of a ballgame.
Base hit for Beck. Freeman holds at second.
Tying run will come to the plate in Brenton Doyle.
You've got a three-run lead here.
Just let your pitcher try and work out of it.
Well, especially with two outs.
Runner's on the move. Herrera throws through to second.
And Marte is able to get to it.
A double steal for the Rockies. Puts runners at second and third.
And Rodriguez still has a decent chance getting out of this inning with no damage done.
Swing and a miss. Struck him out on a change-up.
And the inning comes to a close.
Rodriguez strikes out two. More importantly, he strands two.
And inside with a cutter that time.
But Alec Thomas able to muscle that one out.
Lead-off man aboard again for Arizona.
Jose Herrera hitting a buck 90 with a homework 15 RBIs.
Player's been in this organization for a decade.
Herrera hits a fly ball to right field.
Come on, ball. Keep going.
There it goes. And it's gone.
Jose Herrera makes it 5-0 Diamondbacks.
And he got just enough to get it out of here.
And it's 5-0.
At the top of the game, we said that Blalock has a tough time keeping the ball in the ballpark.
Now that's 11 home runs that he's given up in less than 45 innings pitched.
Jerry walked and scored to lead it off.
Off the bag. Perdomo is out at first.
What a play by Colorado.
That thing hum up there forever.
And Aaron Shunk made it out.
Yeah, this is a good play all around.
Even Kyle Farmer, he does a good job keeping his eyes on the baseball.
Going to make a play, but Shunk beats him to it.
Has the angle.
Credit Blalock for having some heads-up awareness.
And for the third time in four innings,
the lead-off man on against Bradley Blalock.
Thomas threw a throw, but that one ends up up the line.
Shunk to it quickly.
Thomas headed towards third.
Throw on its way.
Out!
Great throw from Aaron Shunk,
and he was in a dead sprint to get to that baseball.
You know, it took a perfect throw to get him, and he made a perfect throw.
Carroll's got him on the sweep tag.
He's got that big wingspan at 6'5".
Darryl Scott, the pitching coach out there to have a conversation
and try to survive this fourth inning at least.
Maintain that 5-0 gap.
That's two on and two out now for Marte.
1-1 is roped to right field.
Marte hits it off the scoreboard.
Herrera will score.
Pernomo coming home.
Marte pulls into second with a two-run double,
and it's 7-0 Diamondbacks.
Oh, he has killed the Colorado Rockies this year.
That was 112 off the bat.
And that's going to do it for Bradley Blalock.
Seven runs allowed.
7-0 is the Diamondback lead.
Rodriguez has been terrific on the mound.
As he works to Kyle Farmer.
Oh, boy.
Take a good look.
You won't see this one for long.
Home run, Kyle Farmer.
Touch him all the time, Kyle Farmer.
Number six for the Vets, 7-1 Arizona.
Eduardo Rodriguez, five innings of one-run balls so far.
The D-backs have a 7-1 lead.
And Rodriguez, I mean, if he just continues to do what he's been doing,
is really going to get the Diamondbacks off on the right foot of this four-game set.
Going to get another out right here for Locklear,
who drifts over into foul territory.
And that's the first out of the sixth.
And any time you roll into Coors Field for a four-game series,
you want to save as much bullpen as you can in those first couple of games.
Doyle hits it on the ground, up the middle of the center field.
That'll be a one-out single.
That's the sixth hit for Colorado.
Five of them are singles.
They've been scattered.
The exception, the Kyle Farmer home run that led off the fifth.
Locklear's got it for one, took off the force.
Oh, yeah.
They get the tag.
They got the tag on Doyle at second base, and that'll end the inning.
A slick double play turn by Tyler Locklear.
Top of the order for Arizona.
Geraldo Perdomo leads off.
A walk and a run scored in the first inning, then a ground out,
and then a base hit, another run scored in the fourth.
Perdomo shoots one by Karos.
He's on board for the third time tonight, and he's got his second hit.
Inside-out swing.
It just drills this ball the other way.
It was down and away, fastball.
And now here's Cattell Marte, who's got a two-run double on the card.
He's won for three, seven to one.
Diamondbacks here in inning number seven.
Marte's aboard.
He follows the single with a walk, and now there are two on and nobody out.
Corbin Carroll kind of looking for the finishing shot here.
And there's the slug.
It splits the gap, and here we go.
Doyle is able to get over there and cut it off.
Perdomo will score.
Corbin's got the RBI double, and Marte stops at third.
It's eight to one.
Got a good pitch to hit.
They just hit a solid line shot.
Well, that's going to do it for Anthony Molina,
as here comes Warren Schaefer to make a pitching change.
Eduardo Rodriguez, seven innings.
He gave up one run, six hits, a walk, six strikeouts.
Just what the D-backs need at game one of this series.
You don't want to come in here and give the Rockies any hope.
Come in here and shut them down completely the way Erod did tonight.
With the bullpen, some credit tonight.
They're going to work five and a third innings,
and at the moment they've allowed just one run.
Oh, nice catch.
Nick's not going to rub that left hand, but he felt it.
That came rocketing back, but he got the leather on it.
And the left-hander Jalen Beeks out to get the final three outs.
Forty-six appearances for Jalen.
It worked one and two-third late in that Tuesday game,
and Texas did not give up a hit
and was the winning pitcher in that game against the Regions.
Oh, boy. This ball deep, left-center field off the bat at Doyle.
It is gone.
Brett Doyle with his 11th big fly of the year.
That's a fastball from Beeks.
Just middle, middle, a little on the inside part of the plate.
One and two to count. Two outs, bottom of the ninth.
And he finishes things off in style.
And the Diamondbacks come into Colorado,
and they keep the winning mojo going.
They get an 8-2 victory.
They have won six of their last seven,
and they have won nine of 13
since they were trade deadline sellers.
And a huge, huge tip of the cap to Eduardo Rodriguez
who pitched a gem tonight
when the team really needed game one of a four-game series
that could put them over 500.
