A new exhibit at the Brandywine Museum of Art is highlighting the Kuerner Farm, where renowned artist Andrew Wyeth spent 70 years of his life.
Well, finally at four today, a new
exhibit at the Brandy Wine Museum of Art
is highlighting the Kerner Farm. That's
where renowned artist Andrew Wyatt spent
some 70 years of his life drawing
inspiration and painting some of his
most iconic works.
And now that amazing space will be open
to art students of all levels for
lessons and inspiration. Action News
photographer Todd Cretchmer takes us.
Tom Cretchmer takes us there.
people here that are just crazy about
Wyth and there's people that take the
opportunity to learn,
you know, and
what better place to do it.
They don't make ground anymore.
And yet to have a a plane air class,
which we've been doing for quite some
time now, and have people that are fans
of Wyth to paint here, and people that
just want to learn about the education
of the arts, to have an opportunity to
live in history and yet create their own
history like a movie. You have your star
of the show, you have your supporting
actors.
It's beautiful. It's peaceful. It's
quiet.
The views are are never ending. There's
always something new to paint and it's
steeped in history and tradition.
You read about Andrew Wyth and the
generations of the Kerners. He found
things that were just fascinating that
right under his nose. He didn't have to
go to Europe. He didn't have to go to
exotic places that were just right here
in this amazing farm.
I think for most people, they see this
uh hardworking farm environment through
the eyes of Andrew Wyatt. So I go to
Kerner Farm and I see a painting like
Wolf Moon, the farmer Carl Kerner
looking like a hard harsh man with these
hooks for hanging sausages behind his
head. Um, you can't see the place
without this iconic creative practice.
And the well is endless.
And Andy said we haven't even hit the
tip of the iceberg here. And the people
that come here prove it.
