The world premiere of Vivaldi's concerto for multiple instruments in C Major RV 557/R, reconstructed by Voices of Music. Live, 8K video from our March 2024 concerto program.
RV 557 has a number of passages that are remarkably similar in style to the recorder and mandolin concertos, so we have arranged and reconstructed this work for varied instruments in Vivaldi's style. The mandolin and harpsichord appear in the second movement, and we have added baroque bassoon to the continuo group. This concerto was written for the orchestra of Dresden, and as such has rich, majestic counterpoint with fugue subjects which are leavened with ritornellos and virtuosic solo episodes.
