What SpaceX Just Did That Completely Humiliated Blue Origin
While SpaceX Starship 37 is ready for its next big test flight... Blue Origin? Yeah, they’re still stuck at tiny components, trying to get New Glenn ready for just its second flight.
Is this the same Blue Origin that plans to beat SpaceX to the Moon and Mars?
But let’s be real — how’s that gonna happen when SpaceX is pumping out Starships like Teslas, and Blue Origin is still stuck in the lab?
In today’s Techmap episode, we’re diving into the major gap between these two space giants and Blue Origin's effort to catch up before SpaceX leaves them in the dust.
What SpaceX Just Did That Completely Humiliated Blue Origin
On July 28, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared on X that Starship Flight 10 is set to launch next month.
Coinciding with that announcement, Ship 37 — the upper stage hardware for Flight 10 — was rolled out to Pad A and lifted onto a specially adapted transport stand.
Just two days later, the vehicle was loaded with propellant for the upcoming static fire testing, scheduled to take place soon. It is a major milestone as SpaceX gears up for the testing next month.
Now, there’s something particularly noteworthy about this upper stage. Just a few hours after arriving at Pad A, Ship 37 made history by becoming the first Starship to be stacked directly onto the Orbital Launch Mount using what’s being called the “star stool” — essentially an improvised static fire stand integrated into the OLM.

Why this change in procedure? It all goes back to a major incident involving Ship 36 on June 18. During a static fire test at SpaceX’s Massey test facility, Ship 36 suffered a catastrophic failure, likely due to a composite overwrapped pressure vessel issue in the nosecone. The resulting explosion caused severe damage to Massey's infrastructure, destroying the ship, the test stand, and much of the surrounding propellant equipment. Since then, the Massey site has been out of commission, and for the foreseeable future, it will likely only support cryogenic tests. noticing how slow progress has been. That mid-August launch date? It’s looking shaky."
