We are going to check out what we need to be thankful for even with this Worldwide Pandemic or Covid19 still hanging around! Then we are going to take a look at several Days of Thanks in Different Countries Around The World.
0:38 This has been a rough year and it is not over yet!
At times like these, when each day seems to bring another depressing headline, it’s important to take a moment to remind ourselves about the things we’re thankful for. Amid all the sadness, we need to remember what we can be thankful for right now!
1:00 If you are healthy, be thankful for your health.
1:09 If you have anyone in your life that shows you love and kindness, be thankful they are in your life.
1:24 Be thankful for the pets and animals in your life. Love them, take care of them.
1:40 Be thankful for the beauty of nature.
2:05 If you have your five senses; be thankful you have them. They are smell, hearing, sight, taste, and touch.
2:20 Be thankful you have a brain and learn something new each day to keep it growing.
2:36 If you have a roof over your head, be thankful for that.
2:49 If you have enough food to eat, be very thankful.
3:01 Be thankful if you have a cell phone, a computer, access to the Worldwide Web. Technology is amazing.
3:18 If you have a family and/or friends, be thankful for them. Love them and appreciate them.
3:34 Now we are going to fly around the world and check out the days of thanks in a few countries.
3:56 Our First Stop Is Norfolk Island:
A version of the American Thanksgiving is celebrated on Norfolk Island, just off the eastern coast of Australia. Around 2000 people call it home. Because the island became a popular destination for whaling ships coming from the United States; an American trader named Isaac Robinson settled on Norfolk Island; and he brought with him the Thanksgiving tradition.
4:39 Our next stop will be Malaysia.
They celebrate the harvest. They observe the Kaamatan Harvest Festival during the month of May. Rice is the main ingredient in their dishes served at the harvest. The closing ceremony for the festival is the liveliest filled with many different games, activities including dance and song performances.
5:18 Next, we will head for Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico became a territory of the US in the late 19th century. Thereafter, its residents celebrated Thanksgiving. But Puerto Ricans have put their own twist on the traditional Thanksgiving Day feast: There is usually turkey—whether a roasted, seasoned pavochón or a turkey stuffed with mofongo (a mashed plantain dish)—but roast pork is also a common item on the menu, accompanied with plantains, rice, and beans.
5:55 Our next stop is going to be St. Lucia:
On the second Monday in October, a little over a month earlier than the USA’s Thanksgiving, the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia celebrates Thanksgiving. In the Eastern Caribbean, October also means the winding down of the Hurricane season, which tends to peak between August and September. Avoiding any major disasters from Hurricanes is another reason to say thanks by playing music, dancing, and eating lots of delicious food.
7:01 Our last stop this year is going to be Argentina!
The Grape Harvest Festival dates back to 1936 when a signed decree stated that the grape harvest would become a social event on the national calendar. Over 25 thousand viewers show up at the Gimnasia y Esgrima Stadium, where the magnificent event of the crowning of the ‘Queen of Vendimia’ with a tiara made of grape leaves and vines takes place. This is along with music and dancing! The show is followed by a large fireworks display and live music.
8:11 Happy Thanksgiving to all wherever you live and whenever you celebrate your day of thanks! May you and yours stay healthy and happy!
