dads deserved a day of praise too her father william jackson smart had been in the civil war he was a single parent who had raised six children as his wife had passed while giving birth to their sixth child on a small farm in washington state sonora wanted to praise him for all he'd done for his family she thought june 5 would be a good day as that was the day he passed but later it was changed to the third sunday in june but likewise on july 5 1908 grace golden clayton proposed a day to honor fathers to her minister at a local church in west virginia when they were holding a remembrance for 361 men who had been killed in a deadly mine explosion then in 1924 president calvin coolidge suggested that a special day be set aside to honor fathers then in 1966 lyndon b johnson through an executive order said the third sunday in june was to celebrate fathers and called it father's day but in 1972 an order by richard nixon officially recognized father's day as a national holiday let's take a look at other countries celebrate father's day such as argentina brazil then on to europe to visit spain austria belgium then sweden australia new zealand and last to asia to visit south korea handmade gift cards for their dad it's the perfect day for you to convey heartfelt father's day wishes or messages to their loving father it's a special day to show them how much he's appreciated many of the children are separated from their dads or work or other reasons and the father person who's their father figure they send him a text message at austria they mainly speak german so happy football surfing cricket or gift cards plus they may end the day going out to a delicious meal with dad at the beach or at home or at a restaurant then they relax open gifts and just enjoy time with the original mother's day from the u.s it started out with a lady giving white carnations to people and remembrance of her mother later when it came to south korea they changed the day to parents day and they gave red carnations to both parents to show their gratitude to both mother and father they celebrate parents day on may 8 every year red carnations are the traditional gift as these flowers symbolize love and gratitude students make red coronations and art classes before the may 8th celebration the younger children still in school invite parents to a parent's day ceremony they sing parents day song to them one of the lyrics is what else can be called as big under the sky mother's sacrifices are endless it means that parents loves as big as the sky when may 8 comes they pin the carnations on their parents chest and give them the letter of appreciation if their parents are older they visit them repair them a meal along with gifts and a gift card they love to express their father's day is a public holiday and most schools and businesses are close is a time where thai people show the recognition to their fathers for what they've done to make their lives better usually
