I lost my dog in Azerbaijan | Stranded overseas (day 11)

This has been one of the toughest stretches of my life. My dog broke out of the room during a chaotic moment at the hotel — security and police had to get involved, and thankfully, cameras helped us find him. He was found running along the Caspian Sea. He’s safe now.

But we’re still stranded. My dog was denied boarding on our flight back to the U.S. because his crate was too small. Now I have to build a larger, airline-approved crate and get it cleared by Lufthansa or LOT Airlines.

Thankfully, a kind local here in Azerbaijan has been helping me navigate everything — from translation to crate logistics. I couldn’t do this without him.

It’s Day 11 of this unexpected journey. Hoping to leave by Day 15.
