That's a winning combo. >> Policing is something that does not create safety. Now, what lessons do you think Democrats should take from his win? >> Well, I think it was a really important win, but some of his other positions are like defund the police, abolish the prison system, ban all guns, decriminalize sex work, decriminalize drug possession, and end cooperation with ICE. >> Everyone should get on board and endorse Zoran right now. Umi called to defund the police in 2020 and said that the NYPD was quote racist, anti-quer, and a major threat to public safety. >> I think he's a very personable, smart young man. >> The abolition of private property or you call it, you know, just a statewide housing guarantee. It is preferable to what is going on right now. >> His message, his economic message is the future of the party. >> Are prisons obsolete? I mean, what purpose do they serve? >> It's just beautiful to have someone who is so authentic. >> When I am the mayor, the NYPD will serve public safety of New Yorkers. They will not assist Trump's ICE agents. >> Will you support uh Mandani in the general election? >> If if he's the Democratic candidate, which it sounds like he is, I assume I will. >> Sanctuary city policies. In fact, it is an evidence-based approach that has made us safer across New York. It's actually reduced crime. What I would do is not only stand up for those policies, but would strengthen them. >> I think it's hard not to be won over. >> Do you like capitalism? >> No. I I I have many critiques of capitalism. >> He's he's a smart man. He'll do what he needs to do. >> So violence is an artificial construction. >> What he's been able to do is something that that our party ought to learn from. >> Beyond saying that we're going to establish an office plus affairs is also that we're going to provide $65 million in funding for gender affirming care. >> Do you support him? I am a Democrat who supports Democrats in general elections. >> That we are going to go to Albany and we're going to change the laws in Albany, not just to stay with the bail reform laws that have been passed, but to end cash bail entirely. >> Um, he has so many incredible first, but the thing I love about Sauron is what he is doing to lift up working people. >> There are also other issues that we firmly believe in. whether it's the the end goal of of ceasing the means of production. >> He had good ideas and let's be really clear, he is the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City. Democrats need to get on board. This is the future and we have a lot of lessons, I think, positive to learn. >> You're a proud Democratic socialist. Do you think that is a platform that would work for other candidates running in other parts of the country? >> Absolutely. Do you support Mdani's candidacy as the Democratic nominee? >> Absolutely I do. I want to add uh him to my list of Democratic friends. >> We have to continue to elect more socialists.
